A NY Post columnist wanted to throw up when the Mets stole "Sweet Caroline" from the Red Sox.........
And every year, it gets worse and worse, cheesier and cheesier. The first time the ground's crew at Yankee Stadium did the "YMCA" dance while dragging the infield in the sixth inning, it was cute. But they've been doing it for well over 800 games now. This wasn't a tradition that merited a streak 16 times longer than Joe DiMaggio's hitting streak. It just didn't.
Of course, the Mets are just as bad, if not worse, because they can't even invent their own original noise pollution. On Opening Day, Shea patrons were greeted by a horrifying development in the eighth inning: Suddenly, from the speakers, came this hauntingly familiar tune, going something like this:
"... da-da-da, da-da-da-da-da, da-da-da, DA-DA-DA, DA-DA-DA-DA-DA, DA-DA-DA ..."
