Take that, Cole Hamels! :bandance::D:

7 innings, 2 hits, 16 K's, 3 BBs for Jake Peavy tonight against Arizona. Too bad the game wasn't on Extra Innings. I probably missed Peavy's best performance of the year (although hopefully not). :(:

And after reading the box score, apparently Jake at one point struck out 9 consecutive batters! :o: Hell of a game...

He still is in the game with 2 innings left. I got it on my local feed.:supernana:

He had 9 in a row at one point.

Hopefully they put this on ESPN if he has a chance to break the record in the 9th (how could they not?).

Black is leaving him in the game? :o: Not sure I like that. Yahoo has Peavy at 117 pitches through 7. Granted I would love to see Peavy get to 20, but I don't want to see his arm fall off because of it.

He might be pulled I didn't realize the pitch count. I've been channel surfing.

I also wouldn't mind a Linebrink Hold for my fantasy team :)

Yeah, Linebrink is in. Smart move. 20 K's would have been nice, but I'd rather see Peavy remain healthy for the entire season.

Edit: And of course Linebrink gives up a HR to the first batter he faces. It would be a shame to see Peavy miss out on the W after an outing like that.

Ugh. Linebrink throws up a quick HR.

He's one guy I would love to see on the WS, great arm and he's only 25. Too bad the Padres aren't stupid enough to give him up.

Hoffman just gave up a walkoff 2-run homer to Stephen Drew. Peavy's dominant outing was wasted.

Not much of a Cole Hamels fan, huh?

I was actually at the game when he struck out 15 last Saturday. I was pulling for him to strike out the side in the 9th so he could finish with 17.

My starting SS on my Fantasy Team...at least something went well tonight.

Lets not forget he struck out 9 consecutive batters, and nearly struck out #10 on a close check swing. The Major League record is 10 consecutive strikeouts. One other guy, I forget his name, struck out 9 consecutive back in 1884 when the mound was only 50 feet away!
