Hawk usually seems to gush over Mark Grudzielanek whenever we face the Royals now.
Reggie Sanders - "The best hitter nobody knows about"
Manny Ramirez - "This guy knows everything about hitting...etc."

Who are some other of his favorites?

He always seemed to gush about George Brett, even to today.

Only a couple of weeks ago Hawk and DJ gushed about David Eckstein being a "baseball player".

I'd have to go with Grady Sizemore...I think Hawk gets flush and is about to faint everytime he comes up to bat!

Wow, I never saw that one before, but everything is completely accurate.

By the way, the gushing over Santana already this year has made me sick.

Sometimes Hawk spends more time gushing over opposing players than he does talking about ours. That's not a bad thing though. He mentions the Big Poppy/Ramirez threat when we play the Bosox.

Who the hell is he going to talk about, the Coco/Kapler Connection?

He used to go crazy for Griffey Jr. when he was young and with the M's. "This kid is gonna rewrite the record books, Wimpy".

He's going to rewrite the record books, alright. He'll be the first player in the history of sports to have a "bobble-hamstring" figure.

MrMarySwiss pointed out last night--and I had to agree--that the Royals' announcers made it clear that they were very impressed with the Sox. Which I'm sure infuriated some Royals fans.

That said, I still really hate it when Hawk and DJ make it sound as though we should just forfeit against some pitcher. I mean, okay, Santana's damn good, but c'mon; it's not like he's never lost a game!!

He gushes about Mauer whenever we play MIN.

I actually found it interesting how everything Hawk and DJ had to say about Alex Gordon was how likely it was that he would be a bust, while the rest of baseball seems to think the kid's headed straight for the HOF.

Hawk also had some man love for Pat Hentgen of the Blue Jays back in the 90's. And not as players, but I've also heard Hawk show some love for one of his favorite managers in former manager Billy Martin and current Twins manager Ron Gardenhire and GM Terry Ryan saying they are keepers.

This thread is pretty ironic given that one of the most common criticsms leveled against Hawk is that he is an unrepentant homer. I don't mind Hawk praising our opponents one bit.

He was in love with some guy on KC last spring because he had hit the highest foul pop up he'd even seen during a spring training game against the Sox. That showed he clearly was incredible with the bat. :?: I can't remember who it was though. Shane Costa maybe?

Though he had been following the kid since high school, Hawk always gushed about AJ prior to the guy becoming a Sox player.

Hawk: Pierzynski is killing us. He knows exactly what to put down to get our hitters out.

definately Grady Sizemore, then again who can hate this guy he has it all on the field.

Apparantly, he doesn't like him anymore.

Hawk, circa late July 2005: "where's he gonna play???"

You might be shocked to see Grady Sizemore's season stats. If you took out his production against us, he really looks mediocre. That guy owns our pitchers.

George Brett! I've heard him say a few times he is one of if not his favorite player to watch of all time.
