So when does Gio get moved up to Charlotte? To me, Vladimir Nunez is taking a spot of a guy that should be pitching at a higher level. Even Jack Egbert could go to AAA.

Agreed on both counts. Gio's K/BB ratio has been sick this year. Time to move him up to Charlotte.

The Sox do not take their prospect AA starters and move them up to AAA during the season unless there is an injury.

Considering Gio pitched at AA last year, I think they should strongly consider making an exception with him. If he's in the 2008 plans, why not get him some experience against more experienced players?

Dunno. I wouldn't have a problem with it, I think pitching in Charlotte is a great learning experience considering the small dimensions.

A little early to move Gio, don't you think? He's young and was pretty bad in AA last year. The big park will help his confidence as he continues to work on stuff. Of everyone at Birm. one imagines Egbert is probably the closest to the majors because of age and command.

It'll be interesting to see of the fairly low ceiling right handers the Sox have (Egbert, Broadway, McCulloch) who emerges. I'm betting Egbert because he has had periods of dominance.

Personally, I would not lump Jack in there... And what does "fairly low ceiling" mean, anyways? A potential #3 starter? I think most teams love to have those kinds of prospects. Fairly low ceiling, to me, means a back-of-the-rotation or non-closer bullpen pitcher. All of those guys are higher ceiling than that...
