I notice a lot of talk about Rob, and it is kind of hard to get an idea exactly how everyone feels.

So, the poll is, how do you feel about Mackowiak?

Seems like a good guy and good bat off the bench.

If this comment was an option I would vote.

Ditto. He's a good back-up, and I have no problem him playing LF now since Pods is out. No CF!

He has an ok bat off the bench. I do not want to see him regularly and especially not in center. I would rather see BA getting more playing time though.

Twice a week sounds about right. He does have a good bat with occasional power.

Please, no more CF. Ever. Konerko goes to CF first.

Smokey Burgess to CF before Rob.

I didn't vote either

He looks very comfortable in left. I have no problem with Rob being the primary backup option for LF.

I really like Mack. He was put in a tough position last year being asked to play out of position. I think it's a shame if that has soured some Sox fans opinion of him. Yes, he's terrible in CF and I don't want to see him there again. But I think he's a great addition to the team when he's not in center.

I think giving him 2 starts a week would be perfect. He's a very valuable guy for this team

That's about sums it up. He's below average in LF or RF and abominable in CF. He's got a decent bat, but it's not good enough to where he should get a start in the OF more than once every two weeks (considering who we have to play OF on our club). He should play the role that Gload did last season(although I think Ross has a slightly better bat). Maybe he should start taking balls at 1B.

Twice a week, plus some pinch hitting. Left field.

Should've been a platoon partner for LF this year.

He had a .383 OBP against RHP last season. I wouldn't have mind that in the leadoff spot.

Rob is a great guy to have on a team. He can play multiple positions. He has a decent left-handed stick. He's a good pinch-hitter, and he's very capable of filling in for an injured player for a couple weeks, as he will do with Pods being out.

I'm a Mackowiak fan.

Agreed. Ozzie was the villian there, not Mac. I felt sorry for him being stuck where he didn't belong because Ozzie was so stubborn. Two games a week, pinch hit, fine.

I can live with Rob in left field as a platoon player, but I still think he would be better used at 2nd to give Iguchi a day off or at 3rd to give Crede a day off.

I remember him at 3B a couple times very early last year. But what do you do with Cintron if you use him in these places?

I have nothing against him, as long as he does not play:

SS
C
SP
RP

and of course:

CF

I think Rob is a very good, almost great hitter against righties. He struggles against lefties and probably shouldn't face one. His defense makes me sick. He can't go back on a ball and has no instincts. He'll also occasionally throw to the wrong base. And when he's in there, the ball finds him. If Ozzie continues to use him, the Sox will pay dearly.

Oh yeah, definitely tongue in cheek. :D:
