View Full Version : What About Phillies' Chris Coste as Backup Catcher?

I'm not real optimistic about Toby Hall being able to return and be a solid back up this year. Any opinions on Chris Coste as an option? I believe he's down at AAA for Phillies, after hitting .300+ last year with the Phillies. I'm not real familiar with him....but I'd assume he could come cheaply.
He'd be an upgrade over Molina, but I'm still keeping my fingers crossed about Hall. If Hall can't return, I think we need to do something. Molina seems fine as a catch-and-throw guy, but he is overmatched against big-league pitching.

When I saw Coste last year he seemed damn near impossible to strike out.
Not that he always hit line drives, but he seemed to have an incredibly short and controlled swing.
I'm not sure what happened between then and now...
