MLB earlier this month opened its first store outside the United States in Tokyo, with a hearty display of competing Red Sox and Yankee wares. The team's baseball caps sit on opposing shelves, and even the MLB Mr. Potatohead "Sports Spuds" had a Yankee potato sitting atop two Sox spuds. Another two stores are planned in Japan, and the league is also considering opening a themed restaurant , Small said.

...And MLB further alienates real baseball fans.

This infuriates me.
Major League Baseball is the entity driving all this crap, and yet it is for only two teams? Why?
The only recent Japanese import to win a world series is Tadahito Iguchi.

I guess they couldn't crop the Seattle Mariniers bat completely out of this picture. I'm sure MLB knows that Ichiro doesn't matter in Japan.

How does it help competitive balance when Major League Baseball is brainwashing an entire continent of future ball players that those other 28 teams are just the minor leagues until you get traded to New York or Boston?

ESPN does a good job of it as well for those few folks that live west of the Hudson River

So Taguchi was on the Cards last year when they won it.
