On tonight's Cubune Live, Fred Mitchell commented that the Cubs brass have "been cryptic" in describing Prior's problems this spring. (Hell, for the past four years, I'd say.) I guess in Cubuneland, "being cryptic" is another way to say "lying."

Let's throw Wood into the mix, too. Off the top of my head, I'm remembering a hot tub spill, several "tight" shoulders, a bit of general arm "discomfort" (the latest explanation du jour), and of course Prior's achilles tendon that started the show way back when. They still don't admit to being hurt.

Mike Downey's column today (http://www.chicagotribune.com/sports/columnists/cs-070411downey,1,6826476,print.column?coll=chi-sportstop-hed) said he's marked his calendar for Sept. 23, the Cubs' last home game. He predicts that's when the team will announce Prior and Wood are ready to pitch in a week to 10 days. :roflmao:

Honestly, can you blame him?

Boy, Prior just proves the point that in certain situations, the body doesn't recover the way it used to. Mark's tendons and ligaments just don't seem to be able to respond like they once did, before major league baseball players began testing his skill. :)

For the amount that he's thrown, I think WSI should officially change any Mark Prior reference to Towel Boy.

"Prior out again" = "Sun rises in the East"

Poor use of the word "again" in the title thread. This implies he was not out recently.

All I have to say is the nights of October 14th 15th, 2003 were the last time Cub fans had anything to cheer about. I don't know what was in the water those nights at the Urinal, but Prior and Wood have not been seen since then.....

Am I the only one who doesn't know what "Coob" means? Please enlighten me!

I'm curious. Is he still a sure first round Hall of Famer, or has he slipped with Cary Wood to the second year?

Towel Boy and Balsa.

I think you are on to something here.

I don't root for injuries, but after his sarcastic comments about being in AAA, this is about what he deserves.

"I'm just an employee," the former 18-game winner said Thursday. "The goal now is to go down and help that team win and try to make the Triple-A All-Star team. Maybe I can get invited to the Futures Game or something. I'm still 26."

Maybe not douchebag.

The radio report I heard said he only went 2 innings instead of 3 because his side hurt?! Did anyone think to tell him it was probably a cramp, and that he would be ok? I can no longer give him the benefit of the doubt. He is a wuss.

I don't cheer injuries either, however this guy Prior is one incredibly arrogant piece of work and hearing reports of his troubles makes part of me smile on account of his arrogance, as displayed in the quote you posted.

Well said. I've been saying the same thing for a couple of years.

He went to USC - it explains a lot.

a bit off the topic so sorry, but A-Ram is out now, because of swelling in his right wrist.

Too much instant messaging with Zambrano maybe?? :D: On a side note, what a fragile team. Buehrle takes a line drive off his pitching arm, right above the hand and he's back out there in a week throwing a great game even with the rough first inning. Zambrano sends too many e-mails and he goes on the DL, Prior throws 40 pitches and he's on the DL, Wood slips in his hot tub and goes on the DL, Ramirez does god knows what to his wrist (we all know it wasn't from playing since he doesn't even try half the time) What god awful luck or trainers they must have. Thank god we have Herm

Prior is an ass, but the guy I feel bad for is Kerry Wood who I've met a couple of times and is a very nice guy. It's becoming almost sad now. Watching a guy's career implode isn't all that fun anymore...now if this happens to Zambrano, well, then it's fun and games again!

Hmmmm....what could he be doing at home that could cause the swelling?

Well, we all no how honest the Cubs are about injuries. Next thing you know he'll be on the dl.

Prior being on the DL for the 50th time is not a shock anymore. It is really starting to get old now.
