With all of Japan awaiting the meeting tonight between Matsuzaka and Ichiro somebody has been completly ignored.

The Seattle starting pitcher Felix Hernandez making his second start of the season after striking out 12

This should be a great game ( and it is on ESPN )

They meet again (http://www.boston.com/sports/baseball/redsox/articles/2007/04/11/they_meet_again)

The stars will align tonight when Ichiro faces Diasuke Matsuzaka in Dice-K's Fenway debut.

It is just amazing watching Japan TV setting up. NHK Toyko has sent 2 of their own trucks to Boston and the entire crew has been sent from Japan ( they hire no locals )

I don't think we in the US fully understand how big this is in Japan

This reminds me of Roger Clemens first game back last year. Somehow the hype of the Rocket was somehow overpowering.

And the Astros got shut down by some kid. Some phenom type. Some phenom that blew out his elbow and had tommy john surgery, and will be back stronger and more powerful than ever...

Not much hype at all out here in Seattle for this game. An article here or there...just shows the sad state of baseball out this way.

The ESPN lovefest for Dice-K was downright nauseating. That is until Felix outshined everyone :D: . Also did anyone else hear the announcers say during Dice-K's last inning that it was unfair to him that it's his home debut and his team is losing???? **** you, ESPN! There's no crying in baseball!

Ha. I was procrastinating from studying today and took the Sportsnation poll/quiz thing. I was in the very tiny minority who picked Felix as the guy who came out on top. Now I guess we will hear them wack off about Felix now, since this was against Boston (deserved, but sad it would take that).

Was it that big of a deal though? I'd love to see it if Daisuke (no, I'm not using their dumbass nickname) pitched for Oakland or something. He'd face Ichiro sooner or later, and they already met in Japan, big deal, just continues to prove the east coast slant.

I'd say not good as Felix got the complete game (3rd of his career) allowing just 1 hit and 3 fly ball outs.

OK being old I "sensed" what might happen tonight ( see thread title )

Then working the game I "alerted" WSI that something was up.......

I have no idea how many MLB games I have been at over the years but I have yet seen a no-hitter and to be honest after 7 innings I wanted to see a no hitter at Fenway..............

It wasn't to be tonight BUT as my thread topic indicated I smelled it coming

Felix is the real deal

While the East Coast-centricness of ESPN can be annoying, I have to say that I'm happy for it tonight, as a good friend of mine who is a huge Mariners fan would not have been able to see that superb performance otherwise (he lives in Chicago).

Gotta find some way to get that man Extra Innings...
