Based on todays market to get that caliber of a pitcher at that age for 4.5 million a year is a rediculous steal.

Texas got fleeced in dealing Young and Adrian Gonzales to the Padres for Otsuka and Eaton.

The Rangers get fleeced on seemingly every deal they make.

Imagine the team they would have if they didn't continually make bad deals.

Good deal for both sides really. Young got raises from his previous deal. Although who gave him a contract with less than 3 years MLB service time? Anyway, both sides will avoid arbitration until he becomes a FA. And the Padres even have an option year and could save a lot of money by getting him for 8.5 million for a year.
