One question for some of those who follow the minors:

Does anyone think Wasserman has a legit chance with the Sox? If so, how close or far behind is he? His crazy delivery really impressed me in ST and I can't imagine how a hitter would be able to get past that motion during just one AB per game.

I agree and am pleasantly surprised he's with Charlotte, but does he really have the stuff to stick in the bigs? A funky delivery only takes you so far as a closer, then hitters eventually figure you out, like Shingo Takatsu.

I agree that it is good to see Fields get hits, but he seems to have already demonstrated that he can do well in that department. It's the fielding that he needs to improve, IIRC. Any way to gauge that as we go through the season?

I've was a critic of Fields' defense but he's come a long way in the last 3 years. He was solid in Charlotte last year and he was equally solid in ST this year. He's no Crede, but I don't consider his defense to be a negative anymore.

Keep watch on his error total, that's basically the only way we can gauge his progress from afar, with the occaisional report from maurice or anyone else that visits a Knights game this year.

Granted, I've only seen Fields play at 3rd a few times, but I've been impressed, particularly with his footwork there. He does not look like a football player (or, for that matter, first baseman) trying to play third. He looked fluid.

At the plate, I was impressed with his knowledge of the strike zone. He looked pretty disciplined for a guy who came to the game, full-time, pretty late.

Actually, my one concern with Fields is hitting major-league quality fastballs. His bat looked slow to me last fall. But that could just be the standard adjustment to the big level.

anyone else that visits a Knights game this year.

I'll mention this again later, but the Knights come fairly close to Chicago for the 1st time this year in mid-May, when the Knights play 8 games in Ohio v. the Columbus Clippers and the Toledo Mudhens:
- 5/15-18 Charlotte @ Columbus
- 5/19-22 Charlotte @ Toledo
My 1st Knights game this year probably will be during the Toledo series.

The Mudhens play in a beautiful downtown ballpark, and it's about a 4-hour drive from the Cell.
