The Tribune, apparently to save space, now has the standings with the AL and NL side-by-side instead of one above the other. The result is that the columns for winning percentage, last 10 game results and current streak are gone.

Hopefully, this will change once teams hit the 10 game mark.

Frankly, I've never understood why the last 10 games and current streak columns were there, as they are utterly meaningless. However, winning percentage IS important, as the team with the highest winning percentage is in first place.

With all the weather delays this year, you could have a team with a higer winning percentage a game or half game BEHIND somebody. Go to www.retrosheet.org (http://www.retrosheet.org) and look at the first couple weeks of the 1982 season.

I haven't looked at baseball standings in an actual newspaper in years. I prefer this internet thingie.

Dump, what is the Tirbune? :redneck

The last 10 and the winning streak are important tools to use when gambling. I hope they put them back in the standings ASAP.

Yeah, the "last 10" column doesn't make any sense when the season is less than 10 games old. I think the standings will expand when it makes more sense to do so, especially when basketball and hockey seasons are over. Don't worry.
