Wow It will be great to hear Stone do a white Sox opening day.. I was hoping he would have gotten the job over Singleton

I hope Farmio's daughter makes a full recovery.

Memo to Jose:

Pitch a perfect 27 up, 27 down game for Stoney!

What a shame. Hope she recovers quickly. It'll be nice to hear Stoney calling games for us instead of the other team across town.

Stone hasn't called a game for the Cubs in over two years.

Correct, but prior to leaving he broadcast their games for 20 some odd years ('83 to '04 minus the two Joe Carter years). He's most associated with the northside, so it will be surreal to hear him call a Sox game.

I was just wondering if Stoney gets too critical of the Sox, will they fire him?

Wouldn't you want him to pitch a perfect game for the daughter?

Too bad for Farmio and his family, I hope she is okay.

But honestly, once he comes back, they should keep the three of them in the booth. I think it would add a lot to the broadcast.

I hope she's okay...Stone is the best color man in the buisness...I'd like to see him call most of our games. Him and Singleton would be good. Christ, him and anybody would be good.

Whoa, holy crow.

Thoughts and prayers for her to have a speedy recovery. Great to hear Stoney able to fill in that quickly.

Is he going to do PBP or just color?

First I would like to send good vibes to Ed Farmer's daughter.

Stonie was one of the few things I liked about the cubs. And I look forward to listen to him. He forgot more about baseball than I know about the game. Hopefully this will be our year to end our championship drought.

Has anyone seen this reported anywhere else?
This would be a sick April 1 joke.

Hope for a speedy recovery and that's she'll be all okay.

(The thread title "Sad News" seriously had me thinking inside this would be an April Fool's joke, though!)

Hope she's ok, and it will be interesting to hear the broadcast. It's nice to change things up occasionally.

Just wish those changes were under better circumstances.

Obviously. I was just saying independent of the circumstances, it will be interesting to hear.

I'm surprised that the Score doesn't show it under sports news stories.

I was wondering the same thing. You never know with the idiots at the score

Good to hear she's okay

From whitesox.com:

"Ed Farmer will miss Monday's broadcast, as he stays back in California to be with his daughter, who was injured in a car accident. Steve Stone will join Chris Singleton in the radio broadcast booth, with Farmer expected back on Wednesday. Farmer's daughter is expected to fully recover."

My dream team combo would be

John Rooney and Steve Stone

I first heard of this in the Score's 7:30 a.m. update when Fred Huebner simply stated that Steve Stone would be filling in for Ed Farmer. He mentioned nothing about Farmer's daughter so I thought this was one of Mike North's April Fools jokes. However, since hearing the circumstances of why Stone is filling in, I would imagine that it is legit.

Hopefully, Ed's daughter will be okay.
