Mark Prior (http://sports.yahoo.com/mlb/players/6787/) was sent to the minors Wednesday where the Chicago Cubs (http://sports.yahoo.com/mlb/teams/chc/) hope he can regain the form that made him an 18-game winner and All-Star selection four years ago.

Prior, whose career has been slowed by an assortment of injuries, was optioned to Triple-A Iowa right after his final spring training start.

"It wasn't easy. But at the same time, this is good for his career," new Cubs manager Lou Piniella said.

I can't believe that a guy demands a raise in arbitration only to come to spring training and lose out Wade Miller of all people. Man that's pathetic, but then again the sCrUBS rushed him back in 2002 and that's what happens when you rush someone up so quickly.

Thread hijacked, I just hope that rushing up BA has done the same thing to him as well.

Only thing that cracks me up about all of this junk with this guy is the part of the ST article where sweet Lou and Roth keep saying he is making "great strides" and "improvements." I know that is the image they have to portray to press, fans, etc. But how can you say a guy who is so hyped is "improving" in the next sentence after saying he is sent to the minors?? If their fan base wasn't so gullable not many people would buy that line of BS.

He is only topping out at the mid to high 80's. If he doesn't get his velocity back this may be the last we hear about chief big calves.

Just another step towards Cooperstown.

Looks like right now the only way he'll get closer to Cooperstown would be moving to NY.

Pretty much. A mid 80's fastball doesn't bode well for him right now.

Just say NO to the Microsoft/Novell (SUSE) partnership!

On a side note, I was at Novell's Brainshare this year and it was weird seeing Novell and Microsoft Execs up on stage talking about this, but the conference itself was still good.

One thing I say about Woods; he's been thru major **** and still wants to pitch. Cryor is just a wuss. I didn't realize it took 3 years to recover from not having surgery.

People forget just how good a pitcher Wade Miller was before he got injured. Over a nearly 4 year stretch he put up an ERA of just over 3.50. If he's actually recovered finally and can be even close to what he was the Cubs will have a nice back-end pitcher for their rotation.

Nah it's cool I assumed you were just joking with that and the Pryor part, but I had to jump at the chance of posting a picture of James Woods.

This is a good move for both involved. I think though, that Prior and Wood's career is on its last legs. Too bad because they looked like they could be something special though. Gotta give it up to the Cubs for absolutely destroying two blossming young pitchers!

That may be true, but does Wade Miller still have that talent from the old days, even if he's healthy?

Who knows? But if he's even 3/4 the pitcher he was, they have a solid #5 who will keep them in almost every one of his starts.

Damn I'm sick and tired about hearing about the guy and his cohort Kerry. They hog up airtime that could be better spent. I have the Score on now and Murphy has an idiotic jingle about Wood and Prior set to the tune of "Love and Marriage. I'm ready to:puking:

He sure does, but he looks much older now than when this photo came out.

But maybe this Ken can play him in the upcoming movie hit:

'How I became the next cub manager to get my career ruined by the cub curse'!!
