from whitesox.com also a blurb about Rocky at the end. (http://chicago.whitesox.mlb.com/NASApp/mlb/cws/news/cws_news_story.jsp?article_id=cws_20020319_noteboo k_news&team_id=cws)

The date Manuel has marked for Rauch's first start is April 9, the first game the Sox would need a fifth starter. That means Dan Wright and Jon Garland are locked in as the third and fourth starters, with Wright likely to start April 3 against Seattle, which he held to a run in his only start against them last season.

So reporters essentially know as much as fans......on the day Mario Valenzula got cut the Sun-Times(IIRC) wrote a fluff story on him, We have had about 6 fifth starters and 4 3rd starters if Im up to date on the stories.....I just want to know flat out if Rauch is our 5th starter so i can make plans to see the guy Pitch....But at this point I'm waiting to hear Honel is our Ace and Glover will be our closer

Absolutely...everything changes when Rock gets back..it's really going to help us out giving us some added depth.

Wait, Wait,

I don't get how we wont need a fifth starter until 4/9.

4/1-4/3 are against Seattle which has Buehrle, Ritchie, Wright pitching than a day off than
4/5-4/7 against KC which it would seem like 4/6 would start Rauch it being the fifth game of the season. For Rauch to start on 4/9 against Detroit Spots 1-3 would have to pitch again in the KC series. I really hope that's not what JM is thinking.

Ok, here it is:

4/1 Buehrle
4/2 Ritchie
4/3 Wright

4/4 Nothing (+1 days of rest)

4/5 Garland
Buehrle (4 days rest)
Ritchie (3 days rest)
Wright (2 days rest)

4/6 Buehrle
(Ritchie 4 days rest)
(Wright 3 days rest)

4/7 Ritchie
(Wright 4 days of rest)
(Garland 2 days of rest)

4/8 Wright
(Garland 3 days of rest)

4/9 Rauch

(Garland 4 days of rest)

4/10 Garland

So we don't need another starter until the 9th.

Hope that clears everything up!

uhhh, when you pitch every 5 days, that means 4 days rest...they do it all season, why is this time special?

but none of them are pitching every 4 days, now if they went into lets say may with only 4 starters, then you could worry

Ok thats way too much math for me.....theres a reason I'm a business major:) But bottomline....using all this high powered addition...when will Rauch make his home debut assuming he is 5th starter until then?

According to the rotation described by Cerebrus, it looks like Buehrle will be starting on Opening Day at Comiskey which I think is a good thing. We need to get off to a good start at home in front of a sellout crowd.

Actually Ritchie gets the opening day at Comiskey start. Manuel has Rauch down for his first start April 9th so Buehrle would start the next day the 10th. The team has the 11th off so Ritchie would start opening day, the 12th. Rauch's first start in Comsikey would be either Monday the 15th or Friday the 19th depending on whether or not Manuel uses the off day to skip his spot in the rotation. Since Manuel usually does not do this I'm assuming the 15th which is a day game on a school day. Damnit. Well screw that I'll be there anyway!!

If they keep the Buehrle, Ritchie, Wright, Garland, Rauch rotation then it looks like Tuesday April 16 Rauch will debut against the Cleveland Indians at Comiskey.

I just hope that Rauch pitches some game in the Angels Sox Series in May so I can see him.

According to the rotation Rauch would debut the 10th and pitch agian the 16th but according to WhiteSox.com yesterday Rauch debuts the 9th which would put his second start on the 15th. We'll see how this goes...

With weather and such, it's hard to tell. That's why I will just wait and buy day-of-game tickets. Like they are going to be hard to get or something...
