Never heard those kind of statements from the Cubbies before...

Sounds like Cubspeak for "He might be back by June."

Maybe this should be the new signal for Daylight Savings Time

The guy was at his best as a fat rookie and the better shape he gets into he gets hurt more and more. Is there a lesson here?

I feel bad for him. I've met him before and he's an incredibly nice guy. I hope that once he leaves the Cubs he becomes an ace. But truth be told, I don't give a rat's ass what happens in Cubs camp.

No, that's not quite how a ride on the Balsa Woods carousel works. If history is any indication, he'll come back in May or June, aggravate the injury, attempt another come back in July or August, reaggravate the injury, then decide to shut it down until the following spring. Lather, rinse, repeat.

Yes, I was an idiot and picked him (in the last round) in my fantasy draft.

Translated from CubSpeak ---> English: We may be able to save the arm from amputation.

Not to hijack the thread or anything, but since there was a thread about trading for one "messiah", what would you give up for this "messiah"?

And just as the swallows return to San Juan Capistrano every spring, so too do Prior and Wood return to the DL.

Waiting? The guy is an accident. He's a pitcher waiting to happen.

Canít believe that 20 strike out game was 9 years ago.Of course you can't believe it, the cubs remind us of it every year. They speak of it like it was yesterday.

I thought the early spring was when Wood saw the groundhog's shadow and fell out of the hot tub.

The cubs will have eat their salaries to make either "messiah" remotely attractive for trade bait.

What are you talking about, you don't remember when he struck out 25 people in a simulated game? That was legendary material!

The Cubs make claim that they are not counting upon Balsa and the Messiah for the upcoming season however, the Cubune sportwriters certainly haven't lost the "daily crutch" of 200-300 words per day about the "Adventures of Mark and Woody". What easier filler fodder is ther in the newspaper business? The two DL leaders are to the Cubune's sport section as Paris and NIcole are to the Natioal Enquirer's front page!
Always available, except when real talent in necessary.

This kind of reminds me of what Dean Wormer said to Flounder
in the movie "Animal House": "Fat,drunk and stupid is no way
to go through life,son".:D:

Unless you're Sydney Ponson, it which case you'll still get a contract with the Minnesota Twins.

Why? If they are dumb enough to pay him to get hurt, then why not play. It isn't like the guy is a competitor or something.
