If both pitch well, is the general feeling that the loser will pitch long relief, or will he return to Charlotte? Or does it depend on who the loser is (Danks would go to Charlotte, and Floyd stay up in LR)?

I hope that mlb relief is a serious option for either of them (whoever loses the 5th st role) considering the promise they are showing thus far.

I think if Danks wins the spot, Floyd will likely go to the pen, but if Gavin takes it, the Sox will be more comfortable sending Danks down to Charlotte.

I wish I could disagree but I can't. If Danks wins, even though Gavin would probably be better off in Triple A, I would think the Sox would try not to use his last option unless he totally bombs. If Gavin 'wins' I think Danks is sent down and Aardsma gets the last spot in the pen.

Being outside the Chicago area it's hard for me to see how both are doing in cactus league play.

What kind of promise is Danks and Floyd showing? Can someone please enlighten me?

I agree. Danks is 21. He has time to tune it up if need be.

They haven't totally ruled out Haeger as the fifth starter yet, but I just don't see a knuckleballer in that role unless both Floyd and Danks don't cut it.

I miss when we didn't have this issue.
