Really nice article today on WhiteSox.com regarding Minnie Minoso appearing on the Veterans Committee HOF ballot:

I honestly don't see the present Veteran's Committee electing anyone to the
Hall of Fame. They took a process that was derided as a joke and turned it
into an even bigger joke.

Meh, he's no Effa Manley (http://www.baseballhalloffame.org/hofers_and_honorees/hofer_bios/manley_effa.htm).

I think the Veteran's new stance (strict) is better for the Hall of Fame vs. letting everyone and his brother in as had happened during various periods. I do agree with TommyJohn (WSI's Tommy John though the real one may also share his views) that the process now is too exclusive.

As far as the special Negro League ballot last year, I felt many inducted did not deserve the honor whereas Minnie Minoso and Buck O'Neil were the most deserving (both were shut out).

The four players on my ballot would be Kaat, Minoso, Santo and Torre.
Marvin Miller and Walter O'Malley would be on my "Composite" ballot. Both have factions against their induction (Miller because he is a union man and O'Malley for moving the Brooklyn squad) but both should be in the HOF (few if any administrators had a bigger impact on the game of baseball).
