February 15, 1917 - The White Sox, badly needing a competent first baseman, gets "Chick" Gandil from Cleveland for $3,500 dollars. Gandil would go on to become the ring leader of the infamous ‘Black Sox’ scandal in 1919.

That's interesting, that if Cleveland kept him they would have been the team in 1920 to throw away the world series.

Although it might be safe to say that if there is no Chuck Gandil, then there is no World Series in 1917. By the way, from where I am your this date in history threads are right on time.
