After eight years with Tribune Co.-owned news/talk WGN-AM (720), sportscaster Andy Masur has been hired as a radio announcer for the San Diego Padres. Under a two-year deal with the Padres and XX Sports Radio, he'll provide play-by-play and color commentary.

In addition to calling half of an inning during Pat Hughes' breaks on Cubs broadcasts, Masur most recently hosted pre-game and post-game shows for the Cubs and was the voice of Loyola University men's basketball.

Also on the Cubs beat, Entangled in Ivy: Inside the Cubs' Quest for October, the latest book from prolific Chicago sportswriter and syndicated radio host George Castle, has just been published by Sports Publishing LLC.
It's a warts-and-all review of the club's inner workings -- and failings -- under former team President Andy MacPhail.

When I saw this thread I didn't know who it was referring to until I read it...I had no idea that was how his name is spelled.
