Didn't see this posted but I thought this was a great story from Soxfest that wasn't mentiond here. Anderson will give his number 44 to Toby Hall. He felt that Hall was entitled to it because he has more time in the league. He then apologized to the seven fans that bought Brian Anderson jerseys last year.

Pretty classy move. :gulp:

Only seven fans bought his jersey last year? Not very popular, is he? He should do a legal name change to "Aaron Rowand."

No. 44 is hexed. Rowand struggled in it before giving it to Koch when he came. Anderson struggled in it last year...hopefully the same isn't coming for Hall.

So, you sayin' he might sell a dozen or so of his jerseys this year?

BTW, Chet Lemon did quite alright with 44.

God, I don't remember Rowand wearing 44.

That was Patorick's old number IIRC. It wasn't hexed beack in the early 80's. Pasqua wore it too. Did he start the hex? :redneck

I'm talking about recently. No one has succeeded with that number on their back in recent years.

God, I don't remember Rowand wearing 44.

He did, before Koch came along in 2003.

Again, I understand. RECENTLY, no one has succeeded in it. I never should have said anything; this has been taken way too seriously.

I'd rather have Hall struggle than Anderson...Hall's not a starter. 32 is a good Sox number I think, but I can only remember Hermanson and Alex Fernandez...who else wore it between those two guys?

Maybe the 44 hex started with the drunken ramblings of Harry Caray and the insanity of Jimmy Piersall on WSNS.

Not that 32 (WFLD) is much of an improvement.

So BA will be the first Sox position player since Don Mueller in 1959 to wear 32...interesting trivia.
According to Baseballreference.com, Mueller was "the ultimate anti-Bill James player." He rarely walked, rarely struck out, and was very good at the hit and run.

As far as Im concerned #44 will always belong to Dan Pasqua.

You are always in our hearts Iron Man :smokin:

Not too shocked to see Anderson switching. His number in the minors was 32. He was issued 44 when he came up because Hermanson had 32. Same thing happened to Rowand. He was 33 in the minors, but Jabba the Wells had it when he first game up in 01.

I can't disagree. And if you proudly wear a No. 44 White Sox jerseys that don't display Anderson's name, there shouldn't be any problem.

On a side note, it says Josh Fields is wearing number 17 and Erstad doesn't have a number.

Looks like Erstad is gonna do some haggling.
