Theo Epstein is no longer single and the story of his wedding is on the front page of both Boston papers.

But the Boston Globe really screwed up when they said in the print edition that he had gotten married at Nathan's hot dog stand in Coney Island Brooklyn. This of course was great fodder for WEEI.

The Globe has now published a retraction on their website

Epstein took a wife, left media in dark (http://www.boston.com/sports/baseball/redsox/articles/2007/01/31/hitch_was_in_his_plan/)

Correction: Epstein's wedding did not take place at Coney Island, as had previously been reported in this space

I wasn't aware that the media is to be notified of upcoming marriages.

Pay particular attention to the last four paragraphs.

It's worth a huge chuckle.

 Oh good

AP just moved the hot dog story

The Boston Globe reported Wednesday that Epstein's father, Leslie Epstein, confirmed his son married Marie Whitney in New York at the original Nathan's Famous hot dog stand, built in 1916.

"We're very happy for them, of course, but we can't say much more other than Marie has some strong childhood memories of Coney Island, and that's why we all went down to watch the orthodox rabbi who married them at Nathan's Famous. It's amazing the grip that nostalgia has on people," the elder Epstein, head of the creative writing department at Boston University, told the Globe in an e-mail.

His new wife isn't the Playboy Bunny I would have expected...for some reason, reminds me of JFK Jr's late wife, Carolyn Bessette.

Was Gammons there to give him away or was he going to meet up with them during the honeymoon?

Whatever, dude.

That's why the Braves and Astros signed three of the players I gave them a head's up on when I was living in Colombia last year I guess.
We don't even have a presence there. Colombia has already produced Renteria and Cabrera, both would be improvements for the Sox at shortstop.

Screw Theo Epstein. I honestly care as much about him getting married as I did Jim Hendry's angioplasty. The paper reporting wrong is funny however. You think that kind of accurate reporting would come from ESPN.

Leslie Epstein, the father of Red Sox general manager Theo Epstein, says he was only joking in an e-mail in which he said his sonís hush-hush wedding to Marie Whitney (http://www.boston.com/sports/baseball/redsox/articles/2007/01/31/hitch_was_in_his_plan/) earlier this month took place at a Coney Island hot dog stand. The wedding stands. The franks? That was meant, he said, to be funny.

Obviously the elder Epstein doesn't use an html-based email program or he could have written the Coney Island part in teal.

that boston owner (henry?) is so damn creepy looking, especially since I have a professor that looks all pale and like he hasn\'t taken a dump in year like that right now. and after a few classes with him, you can judge a book by its cover

I think she's pretty. And it's nice that a man in his position isn't so shallow to want a life-sized Barbie doll like most other famous men.

Well, anyone with a Harvard grad degree working in a homeless shelter is probably going to be okay in my book, whether she's "set for life" and doesn't need to earn money or not.

And besides, she has a high VORP (Value Over Replacement Partner).
