View Full Version : 2007 Promotion's Schedule

I have asked my ticket rep about the 2007 Season's Sox Promotions (Dog Day, Elvis Night, Woo-Woo Dunk Tank night, etc), but he indicates it will be out soon.
To date, there is nothing on the "Official Releases" or notes on the schedule or schedule page.
Since Sox Fest started, has there been anything said or printed for the upcoming season?
Just wondering...individual tickets go on sale Feb 16th. and I usually pick up a couple promo nights (beyond my 27 game plan).

2007 will be the 30th anniversary of the South Side Hitmen, I wonder if they'll have a throw back day like they did in 2003 with Winning Ugly.

2007 is also the 40th anniversary of the greatest pennant race in MLB history and the near miss Sox and it's also the 35th anniversary of the Dick Allen led outhouse to penthouse team.

True...I think, and this is my humble opinion only, that the South Side Hitmen are better known (and maybe even liked more) than the '67 No Hit Sox and the Dick Allen Sox. Just my opinion...

It's not really a fair comparison, the '67 Sox vs. the '77 Sox. Those two teams are as different as night and day.

The biggest difference is how the '67 team is (rightly) remembered as part of the "Go-Go" era of Sox baseball but doomed to forever stand in the shadow of the '59 A.L. champions. The '64 team that won 98 games suffers the same fate. Meanwhile the '77 Hitmen are noteworthy for coming out of nowhere to surprise people at a time when the franchise practically had one foot in the grave.

The only way the '67 Sox would ever get any respect in this town is if the Sox still hadn't won a pennant since '45 and no world championships in the lifetime of any Chicagoan still living. If this were the case, the '67 Sox would be the object of 40 years of unbroken love and affection (and endless hype) over all the broken dreams of woulda, coulda, shoulda's that went down the drain on a roadtrip series in Kansas City.

And there isn't a SOX FAN reading this that doesn't know in the deepest corner of his heart that every word of this is true.

I believe there will be a good chance of the Sox wearing the 1977 Uniforms this year to honor the South Side Hitmen. I picked up an official 30 year anniversary pin that says SouthSide Hit Men ,1977-2007 at Sox Fest on Friday. Will the White Sox wear the exact 77 uniforms or will they update them to a modern version like they did to the sunday jerseys a few years back.

I think the only 2 Sox teams in the last 40 years that are better remembered than 1977 are the 1983 and 2005 Sox. The 1990 team won 94 game and closed out old Comiskey, but they don't have that almost legendary status of the 90 win '77 team.

Likewise, I think people will remember the '77 more than the '93 and 2000 division title teams.

I'm too young to remember '72 and wasn't born in '67. 1977 was the first year I started following the Sox - and boy what a year! This was the season that gave us the tradition of Steam's "Kiss 'em Goodbye" and this team spawned it's own nickname (Southside Hitmen). :gulp:

I liked the Kosher dogs a lot more anyway, so the dollar dogs never appealed to me. I actually prefer the sausage and brats over the dogs, so this has no impact on me.

Seems like I've only been to two Thursday games in the past two years out of 50 games.

Yeah same here. I really couldn't tell a huge difference between the two. Plus when they're a dollar, it's all about quantity.

I went to my first ever DDT last year (because of work and school, I hadn't been able to make any before) and went straight to get my hot dogs. I had starved myself all day and wanted to order 8 dollar dogs. Instead I settled for 5, large pepsi, and 2 miller lites. I couldn't even finish 3 of the hot dogs. Not because of the pepsi or the miller lites, but just because they didn't taste good at all and their "fakeness" filled me up rather easily. Now the kosher dogs, those I've had before and they are solid.

Has anyone heard if they are having Sleepover Night? We went in 2003, they had it again in 2005 and when I talked to someone at the front office, they said, going forward, that they would have it every two years (odd years).

Also bummed about Dog Day - we've gone the last two years and I already bought my Golden a Sox outfit for this year!! We usually would get the form mailed to us sometime after Sox Fest. I can't believe it is sold out by now - how did these people get the forms to register already when past attendees didn't get anything?
