Yea, i posted this a while back...
That is my hometown and they are absolutley thrilled. They loved having the Barons be associated with the Phillies, but Scranton is a Yankees town. Probably 70% yankees, 20% phillies, 10% Mets.

The Mets also wanted to move there. The county commissioners basically had a choice which team to take. They flew into New York sat down with the Yankees and made their choice the next day.

There is also talk of the Yankees building a Yankee museum in Scranton b/c people complain that the one they have now is to hard to get to in NYC.

I believe the Scranton market gets YES on their cable. For the Yankees it makes so much more sense than Columbus especially with AA in Trenton.

YES, they get YES

It really is a no brainer. NEPA is filled with New Yorkers and people from Northern NJ that love the Yankees.

My dad works for the county and he said the day they made the deal the season ticket phones were ringing off the hook...so, they raised the prices!

Columbus-Pawtucket games were few because of the unbalanced schedule, now with Scranton in the same division as the PawSox it should be fun.

The Scranton franchise moved in 1989 from Old Orchard Beach, Maine.

That ballpark has seen better days

"I wonder if the Yankees are looking for a manager."
