I am definately not a NY fan but I certainly don't get all the Jeter bashing in the other thread. So in an effort towards full disclosure:

Also, last year through the Jeter's Leaders program he purchased a large block of seats during the Yankees - White Sox series for Chicago area kids who, as the website says demonstrated "academic achievements, extracurricular activities and community service."

Just so you know.

He may be the only Yankee I will/ever liked. Marino Rivera doesn't really bother me either, because you hardly know he's there when it isn't the 9th inning. But Jeter plays the game right and has a good head on his shoulders. It's a shame that can't be said for the rest of the team.
But our team, on the other hand, yyyyyyyyyyes:bandance:

Did he allow the kids to berate A-Rod after the game as well?

Were there any 180 degree spins in mid air during this?

I've always liked Jeter. He has always been very professional and shows class unlike most athletes.

Jeter seems like a great guy. Does anyone actually doubt that?

He's just not nearly as good of a player as people make him out to be. He's basically an average fielder and slightly above average hitter.

exactly. i agree he acquires a little too much attention for his abilities, but he is pretty good. I like him more for the way he plays the game. a hard worker with class

I like Jeter completely outside of the game. Anything directly associated with baseball not so much.
