I just got out of the car and was flipping btwn the Score and ESPN. Do you mean MacDougal for 3 years? Interesting. Maybe that's what the 10 mil we saved on Freddy was for.

Every player needs to have a shortened nickname. EVERYONE.
If you can't figure it out, just take the First initial of the first name, and first 3 letters of the last name.
But since he is a "Mcdougal" Mac always works.
See "A-Row" "J-Gar" and "B-MAC"

Yeah, I thought someone quit. Since I did not know who the thread maker was talking about, I thought it was the "Miller Beeeeeeerrrrrrrrrrrrrrr" guy. Then I read the first post and lo and behold, nobody resigned, but rather signed an extension.

Nice move to start.
Now go out and get another arm for the bullpen (and I don't mean Boone Logan)

I am going to post about (gulp) the actual contract! Besides Lip, not one other person has actually posted a reaction to the actual signing. I really like it. Aside from the one hanging breaking ball to Bartlett that lost us a game, he was lights out. Good to lock him up. And I doubt this uses up any of the money we saved from Freddy.

Dont know what the terms are, but I like having him back. A closer-esque player in our pen is always good. IMO as good as Shields/Wheeler.

Just wanted to see if that worked. Now that that's out of the way, I think this is a good move. MacDougal was pretty solid last year.

Mike MacDougal's new three-year deal with the White Sox is worth $6.45 million.
Very reasonable. The White Sox weren't going to assume the risk here unless they had the potential to save quite a bit in arbitration. MacDougal will earn $1.5 million in 2007, $1.95 million in 2008 and $2.65 million in 2009. The club holds a $3.75 million option with a $350,000 buyout for 2010, the first year he's eligible for free agency.
Pretty good signing by the Sox.

You can never have too many arms in the bullpen. I hope this is the first of many new relief pitchers that we will sign or otherwise acquire.

We already did. His name is Gavin Floyd.
We already did. His name is Gavin Floyd.
Even if Floyd surprises me and throws the ball well, we still have one more spot out there. I hope it will be filled by someone other than Boone Logan, who can't seem to find the plate in pressure situations.

Pretty good signing by the Sox.
This is a good contract for the Sox and pretty typical of KW's recent signings; multi-year deal with club option or buyout for the year after.

I think with the contracts that are being handed out to mediocre bullpen arms, the Sox got a steal with that contract. Good re-signing by KW.

IMO, this was KW's best move of the winter. Good stuff, good price. An all around good value.

No big deal. While reading this thread I discovered I had taste for a polish, but realized I had to polish the silver for Christmas, so decided it would be best if I did some studying instead. With all my relatives coming over it would be best if I took the time to brush up on my polish!!

I like MacDougal a lot, especially as an 8th inning guy instead of a closer. Hopefully Coop and Ozzie can keep him in rhythm with some days off so he's healthy all year. He's got great stuff and he seems to be a real team player. With guys like Baez and Jamie Walker getting big three-year deals, this is a steal.

Nah, we're past that trend and have gone back to initials: Dye = "JD," Anderson = "BA," etc.
Wait, does that mean MacDougle = MM, M&M, eminem, doublem (http://www.whitesoxinteractive.com/vbulletin/member.php?u=50)?

That would mean Brandon McCarthy would be BM, a nickname I doubt he'd care for.

Really good deal for the Sox...MacDougal, Thornton, and Jenks should see us through the 8th and 9th innings of a lot of games for years down the road, and all at a good salary. The pen had a bad year in '06, but all the arms are there to make it a huge plus in the near future.

Great signing. When Kenny first acquired him, I was pretty excited. Now that he's locked up for a bit, I'm even more happy. We just need one more arm in the bullpen now, which I think will be Charlie Haegar. With his knuckleball and impressive performances late last season, I think Ozzie is going to have an eye on him come spring. I'd rather have Kenny get someone outside the organization, but I'm not so sure that will happen.
