I remember being so excited when we got him. Watching him pitch that first time in a Sox uniform was exciting.

I was at the game when he beat Maddux in 2005 and I"ll always remember his near perfect game and incredible end to this season.

Traded for a bag of peanuts. What a shame.

I love Freddy. When I met him he could not have been a nicer guy. I am really sad to see him go.

7 scoreless innings (and a W) in the deciding game of the World Series.
That is how I will always remember Freddy...

I remember being so heartbroken when Freddy came here. I thought Miguel Olivo was going to be an All-Star, and I certainly didn't think that Garcia would re-sign with us. I didn't think he'd be that effective away from SafeCo field.

In his three years here, Freddy proved me wrong on every count, and then some. I tip my hat to him, thank him for the amazing memories, and wish him all the best in Philadelphia.

I knew we were going to trade a starter this offseason and I was hoping it wasn't going to be freddy. Good luck in philly, we'll miss ya.

To the guy who was shaky at times, but brought us so many happy memories in 2005, nothing and no one will ever replace the amazing performances turned in by him in the Game 4 of the ALCS and Game 4 of the World Series. Sure, he gave up the homerun a little more than we'd like, but in my book, his part as one of the Four Horsemen in October 2005 overshadows those long balls.

And aside from this, your near perfect performance in L.A. in September 2006 was something to remember.

Thanks for the wonderful memories, Freddy. :gulp: You'll be missed.

I am sickened to my stomach by this deal. Freddy: you could sweat like it was nobody's business. You could sweat like a man before a firing squad after his escape plan backfired. You could sweat like a hayseed rube at a shotgun wedding. A true hero and role model for sweaty guys everywhere. You won one of those "world series" games for us too, which was kind of important. Farewell amigo! You show those bastards in Philly what it means to break a sweat! ARRIBA!

I was thrilled when we got Freddy in June '04 and he pitched some huge games for us down the stretch of every year that he was here. Especially in 2006. Sorry you had to get traded for a bag of balls Freddy. You didn't deserve it. I can't wait to watch you win 20 games in the NL even though I will be incredibly pissed watching it knowing that we got rid of you for jack ****.

well, we traded 3 bust prospects for Freddy, and got 2 back for his return.

Kenny really dropped the ball on this one

I wish it was Vazquez.
I kept hoping against hope that it was going to be Javy but I knew Javy's more expensive price tag and 6th inning meltdowns would make him tougher to deal. Freddy was my favorite player on the Sox. Getting a Michael Young, Vernon Wells, heck...even Aaron Rowand would have been worth dealing him for. I never thought in a million years they'd trade him for 2 mid level prospects.

Much appreciation for Freddy's time here. Can't wait to see Pods run on him all day next June.

Rowand, Everett, Perez, Harris, Blum, Widger, El Duque, Vizcaino, Marte, Politte, Cotts, Hermanson, and Freddy.

13 of the 25 guys on the 2005 playoff roster are gone. I'm not complaining, but you have to laugh at the business of baseball. When it comes down to it, we root for the uniform.

Thanks Freddy. I still remember the excitement I had when Wills announced moments after we beat the Cubs that we had acquired Freddy. I thought that was the beginning of our World Series run. Well, it took a year longer, but that ended up being the case.

I was hoping Vazquez would be the one to go, but I understand why KW kept him given the price of pitching this offseason, the fact that Vazquez is under our control for an extra year and that part of his contract is being paid by the Yankees.

I'll never forget Freddy's outstanding performance in game 4 of the WS. When I look back at that game on the dvd I still can't believe how calm and collected he was out there. Good luck in Philly Freddy, we hardly knew ya!!!:(:

I think KW will regret this one.

I will say this trade won't help Freddy. Sure he will face NL batters, but he's going to be pitching in what is probably the smallest park in the majors.

The only people that are more sad than us tonight are the people here in Seattle b/c now Freddy will be another 1,500 miles farther from them. They love him as much as most of us did....

Freddy had some unbelievable moments for us over the past three years, and i would have rather had him stick around for '07. Yet, one of the Four Horsemen had to go. Best of luck to you Freddy!:whiner:

I'll always remember him for being big game Freddy and pitching lights out in the 2005 playoffs. I'll also remember how he took a **** when we played the D-rays & Royals. Overall, I loved it when he came to us for a bag of balls, and I'm not too sad to see him go for a bag of balls as long as KW uses the money wisely.

Don't worry, they have a chance to get him for 2008, or sooner if the Phils do another August fire sale after they underachieve for the umpteenth year in a row.

As much as I like the deal for financial and age reasons a big part of me is upset to see Freddy go. My favorite Freddy memory was in a loss. The one-hitter against Minnesota where JD had like 3 great plays and the only Twin hit was a Jockstrap Jones homer in the bottom of the 8th.

Thanks for the WS Game 4 win Freddy. It was fun having you and I wish you the best of luck in Philly. Don't let those crazy fans get to you.

Sad day, but the Sox will move on and be a better team in 07.

Thanks so much for all of your 2005 post-season sucess, especially the Game 4 WS clincher. :bandance:
Thanks for not showing up at all of these autograph events, so now I will NEVER get your autograph on a 2005 WS baseball.

Now you might get a few more chances a year to kick Cubbie ass. Good luck with the Phillies.

My two favorite Garcia moments:

Turn back the clock day, May '05 vs. Dodgers (AJ's walkoff). Garcia was the starting pitcher, wearing that old '59 uniform with the back of the jersey completely untucked in the back....looking like he was going to fall over from heat exhaustion at any moment.

Garcia getting out a jam in the Bot of the 6th of Game 4 of the WS, with two runners in scoring position, and pumping his arm, after Backe had been doing it all game.

I will always remember Freddy for proving that he was worth way more than Jeremy Reed and Miguel Olivo. I kid, I kid.

Mostly though, I'll remember him for my mom constantly commenting on how he needs to tuck in his shirt.

Oh, and I'll also remember him for his shutdown performance in the WS.

Here's to you, Freddy. :gulp:

Freddie was the starter for the game in Detroit Sep. 29 to clinch the division, was the starter for the game in Boston to clinch the ALDS, pitches a complete game in the ALCS and was the starter in the game to clinch the World Series.

He got it done.

Good luck to you, Freddie.

Freddy,

For every time you made me sick loading the bases with nobody out in the first inning, you made me smile even bigger by pitching out of the jam and going 7 strong innings. There were ups and downs, but when it really counted for this team, they could count on you. I will never forget watching you calmly and cooly outduel that wide-eyed and bouncy kid Branon Backe in game four of the World Series. When Dye put us ahead in a position for you to get the W, I couldn't have been happier. Thanks a bunch Freddy! I'll miss you.

NL Prediction: 15+ wins and an 3.80 ERA. Watch the longball in Citizen Bank Park.

Freddie in a day game away was like money in the bank in '05. He was just as unflappable with the sacks loaded as he was in the face of boisterious away fans. We'll miss you buddy!! One of KW's best moves was acquiring Freddie from Seattle.
