ESPN snuck this one in a Piazza story...

LAKE BUENA VISTA, Fla. -- The Oakland Athletics (http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/clubhouse?team=oak) and left-handed reliever Alan Embree (http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/players/profile?statsId=4958) agreed to terms on a two-year contract Wednesday, and the club also was closing in on a deal with Mike Piazza (http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/players/profile?statsId=4928) to be designated hitter.

Embree ... probably for $4 million per.

Piazza could be a valuable DH option, one who could also serve as a third catcher on the roster.

Edit: Maybe $4 million per isn't too far off given the Borowski signing.

Embree rebounded nicely as a NRI of the Padres in 2006 after being DFAed twice in 2005 (Red Sox and Yankees).

Thomas one year, Piazza the next? Should do wonders for jersey sales:D:

Technically, wouldn't Embree be going to the BB itself, not the sub-dominion of FoBB's?
