As I'm looking up and down the list of players that could fit in the White Sox line up, scanning the likes of Rocco baldelli, Kenny Lofton, Pat Burrell, etc., and interesting option came to mind.

He may not cost a fortune.

He is an INF by trade, but is athletic enough to play LF. I mean, after all, how many LF's are outstanding defensively?

Plus, he's played here before.

How about Ray Durham? He always liked Ozzie, and can hit with a decent OBP. He may not run a ton anymore, but he could be rejuvinated in this line up. He's definitely not a base-clogger.

Any thoughts?

He couldn't move well enough in his prime to play 2B, so why could he play LF at age 35? Plus, he just had a career year in San Francisco at age 34. There's something about that I don't like.

How about Frank Thomas in LF? It would be a nice swan song.

He's in for a big pay day and has never played the OF. He can't run like he used to, either. Where would you hit Ray in the order these days? 8th? I like Ray but he'd be just a bad fit all around.

I beg to differ. He pas played 1 (count it!) inning of outfield in 2005. But seriously, he probably is going to get paid more than what his worth is. Besides, don't we have enough WTP as is? God, i was sick to my stomach watching sox games in 2006 when everyone had the long ball mentallity. It was annoying, and sucked.

I'd rather stick with Pods, and believe me, Im all for getting Pods out of Chicago.

While you're at it, bring Herbert Perry back at 3B and put Singleton into CF.

How about John Cangelosi. He's lost a step but I'm sure he can handle left now.

Hawk always said Ray was the best at going back to get pop ups in shallow right. Well, until Willie came along, then he said he was the best. If he's the second best ever at catching popups at second base, he's gotta be a good outfielder, right?

Ray's skill set would make him a more than adequate LF. And, though he doesn't steal many bases anymore, he'd be a significant upgrade over Pods as a leadoff guy and a LF.

However, he's likely to get $6-$8 million per for two years. Rather trade for a cheaper option.

I think Shannon Stewart to an incentive laden deal with a Maggs like option could work. He hits well, especially against lefties, and would be a small risk large reward type guy. His D is pretty solid too. Something like base of 1.5 Mil in 07 with an incentive for PAs to get it up to possibly like 5 or so mil with an option for 08 that gets triggered by 450 PA's or something @ 6-7 Mil. When healthy hes good for a .300 BA and .360 OBP not bad.

I would love to see that happen.

I'd rather take a shot with Pods and Sweeney. Stewart has averaged about 100 games per year since turning 29. We should be able to do better with money than him.

What good is having someone for 162 games if he sucks. Now Stewart, with our multiple rookie outfielders ready to fight for playing time when he's hurt...that's a good idea.

I think Air Bud is a better option.

Probably runs better than Podsednik.

I doubt it.

Chopper has been dead for awhile now.

Then why sign him? Just put the the rookies in to begin with.

I'd rather have options. And I'd rather have rookies earn playing time, with a few exceptions.

It's looking more and more like Posednik or a trade:
