I don't understand. Rowand doesn't play either LF or 2B. How does getting Soriano affect him?

I think he's trying to imply that the Phillies are going to move Soriano to center to replace Rowand. Why that would be considered a good idea though :dunno:

Word is they'd ship Burrell to San Francisco if they signed Soriano.

But don't let that get in the way of a good Aaron Rowand to the White Sox thread.

Burrell has a 100% no-trade clause and has said a number of times that he would reject any trade presented to him and that he has no intentions of playing for any other team. So I guess he'll ride the pine? Move to RF??

If the Phillies do manage to sign Soriano, you'd have to think that Rowand either gets traded or becomes the 4th OF. With Victorino emerging, where's that leave ol' A-Row??? GO get him, KW!!

Oh?

Pat Burrell (http://www.rotoworld.com/content/playerpages/player_main.aspx?sport=MLB&filter_teams=PHI&id=2939)-OF- Phillies (http://www.rotoworld.com/content/clubhouse_news.aspx?sport=MLB&filter_teams=PHI&majteam=PHI)Oct. 31 - 10:31 am ethttp://www.rotoworld.com/images/pixel.gifhttp://www.rotoworld.com/images/pixel.gifhttp://www.rotoworld.com/images/pixel.gifhttp://www.rotoworld.com/images/pixel.gif
A source close to Pat Burrell told the Washington Post the outfielder won't waive his no-trade clause to play for the Orioles because he would prefer to play for a contending team.
Reports at midseason indicated that Burrell would only waive his no-trade clause to go to the Yankees or Red Sox. Maybe he'll expand the list a bit now, but Baltimore still probably won't be on it.

Pat Burrell's representatives Thursday indicated that the outfielder would waive his no-trade clause to join the Giants.
It's unclear whether the two teams have talked, but there might be a fit, as the Giants are trying to unload Armando Benitez and the Phillies are after bullpen help. Burrell would probably be asked to play first base if something got done. The Phillies would still likely have to throw in some money, as Burrell has two years and $27 million left on his deal. Benitez is signed only for 2007 at $7.5 million.

2B in Philly is taken for quite a while.

I heard Murph on the Score earlier (Granted hes a complete moron) say that Soriano would replace Pierre in CF. Why do all these people think Soriano can play CF?!

Heck Soriano can't play left let alone center.

He actually did surprisingly well in LF. He had a lot of great assists and did cover his zone pretty well. But the thoughts of him having to actually read balls out there in center is pretty hilarious.

They still have Shane Victorino, as well. Or would he be riding the bench?

Screw Rowand, I'd rather have Victorino.

You think they are just gonna BARF up Victorino? Hell no:o:

The thing about Soriano is he is athletically gifted enough to be a CF. It would probably be easier for him then left, because he is so fast and has a gun for an arm. Soriano really wasnt a butcher in Left Field.

Did I say that? I said, "I'd rather have Victorino." I would rather have him over Rowand, since a lot of people want Rowand back. Not once did I imply that we were going to get him.
