What's the name of the song (and the artist/group) that they played this year at the Cell as the Sox were taking the field?

Tony1972 already is correct. The name of the song is "Thunderstruck". The group is AC/DC.

If I remember corectly, Konerko's song is "Harvester of Sorrow" by Metallica. Its definately metallica at any rate.

I wondered how long it would take before someone posted a "real" answer...too bad it is incorrect. The correct answer is "Little Spanish Flea" by Herb Alpert.

Come on now, let's not pick on someone who was asking. Not everyone is familiar with various genre's of songs, and if you aren't familiar with AC/DC, you might not know it was their song.

Hope this doesn't put you off of posting other questions in the future.

Amen. That one is WAY overused at our ballpark. I thought it was a product of DJ Joe Stephan but it carried on after he left. Someone in the Sox music programming dept must love it though.
