When I say the title of the thread, my first reaction was "Oh, crap. Uribe has been hanging out with Bonds now".:D:

Yes, he's going to Philly for Aaron Rowand. The Sox figure that if they make Rowand into a shortstop, he's less likely to run into walls or break his neck in the field.

Former Cubs slugger and Dominican native Sammy Sosa offered a little friendly advice to his countryman.

"You need to be surrounded by good people who can tell you, 'Go to this place. Don't go to that place,'" Sosa said.

"For example, if you go out by yourself and you punch somebody, you have to pay that guy for life. You shoot somebody and you are in trouble. That never happens to me because I am surrounded by good people. I would rather pay a bodyguard $1,000 and I won't be thinking about something happening to me. I will have somebody there taking care of my back.

:?: ... what a freakin' joke. Sounds like Sammy is speaking from experience.

Uh, I have as much contempt for Sosa as anyone, but his advice to Uribe is damn good and if you don't think so you have very little understanding of evil schemes and Latin American power politics.

You're right, I don't understand Latin American power politics. I'm just a regular guy who doesn't worry about the repercussions of "punching someone in the head" or "shooting someone" because I don't do those things.

My apologies if this was already mentioned, but in the hubbub surrounding all the trades, I somehow missed this. Not over? Say it ain't so:

A year ago, if you had asked me, I'd have said that "A farmer, an Italian naval officer, and Juan Uribe walk into a park" must be the beginning of a joke.

But this isn't funny. :o:
