Crede being named the best third baseman offensively in the AL in 2006 shows that his offense isn't keeping him from winning the Gold Glove as some have speculated. The fact is, he should have won a Gold Glove and a Silver Slugger award as the best third baseman in the AL, period

Congratulations to both of them. I think they are the 10th and 11th Sox players to garner the award since it was started in 1980 (I think...)

The best thing about those two, is that they'd both trade the award for another championship.

Congrats to both

In all seriousness though, If Crede ever wins a gold glove, he needs to cut down his errors. He may have more range and be better then Chavez, but he also had almost twice as many errors (if i recall correctly).

When you get to more balls (tougher plays), of course you're going to make more errors. Like it's already been said, maybe Crede should just stop having great range so he can cut down on his errors. Chavez gets to less, therefore he should have less errors. Do you think Chavez would have only 5 errors with Crede's range? I doubt it.

Errors do not make or break a guy, unless it's a massive amount with very little range, and Crede only had 10 with very good range. If anything, I think Mike Lowell should have won, with Crede coming in second, and Chavez in third.

I dont disagree with you, but the morons who vote on these awards do. They look at stats like errors more then stats based on Range. How else would Derek Jeter win the award? HELL HOW ELSE WOULD SANDBERG HAVE WON THAT MANY.

I guess my point was, as long as Joe Crede continues to play his ass off and be the best defensive 3b in baseball, he will never win the award. If he ever decided to stand still and only catch what was hit directly at him, he would have 2 by now.

Way to go guys! I'd never expect Crede to win one, but who cares? Our guys are winning awards! A nice consolation prize for Dye after missing out on MVP.:bandance:

A-Rod has better stats in virtually every category, including a better OPS w/ RISP.

Joe should've won the Gold Glove, though.
