The team of major league all-stars swept the Japanese all-stars with a 5-3 10 inning victory. Iguchi singled in three ABs and Dye was 0-2. Iguchi hit .286 for the series. Dye hit .294. The MLB all-stars continued a winning streak dating back to 1992. This was the first sweep of the Japan Series by either team even though it has been played every other year since 1986, except 1994.

Last time MLB swept in Japan was 1934 :o:
MLB had some players named Ruth and Gehrig
Reyes hit a sayonara two-run home run in the 10th inning, giving MLB a 5-3 win on Wednesday at Yahoo Dome in the final game of Nichibei Yakyu.

The Yahoo Dome is where Iguchi's former mates play.

But didn't the Japanese win the World Baseball Classic? I thought that meant they were the best in the world!
Seriously, weren't the Japanese chirping about being the best after they won that thing? I think the Japanese have some talented players but overall, most scouts peg their league at a AAA or AAAA level. MLB is still where the best players in the world play.
