I got it also. Cheapest is 175.00, but with your purchase you get a replica brick included in the cost. Probably won't do it, unless I have some disposable income coming in

Meh. It seems like a lot of money for nothing. Nobody but the person on the brick will care. Also, Nov/Dec is not a good time to be asking people to be shelling out an extra $175-$500.:(:

I was holding out for the personalized urinal, but that looks like it might not materialize. Seriously I think I will do the "Plaza" brick and put all my kids name on it That way they can go look at it years from now, and be like,"wow look what our over served dad bought us". It will be a Christmas present for all of them, and I'm sure they'll hate it, and say the wanted PS3 instead, but oh well, I try.:(:

I'm in!!!! :bandance: I went w/ the 4X8 one though instead. Total cost was 195.75 total w/ tax and convenience fee.

Why a $5.00 convenience fee?? I have no idea, but I paid it.

Why a $5.00 convenience fee?? .

It makes it convenient for them to take your money.

I'm debating on this one. It could be a nice christmas present to my parents and when split between the kids it would only be about 50 bucks apiece. I don't imagine I would find a much better gift for under $25.

Brian26

Is this tax deductible? My guess is no. Is it says proceeds go to White Sox charities, but in reality you are getting a material possession in return for your payment...similar to the Garage Sale at Soxfest.

ws05champs
11-06-2006, 06:27 PM
My wife and I will do one. We're not sure what size yet - depends on our level of White Sox insanity. I assume a high percentage of this is tax deductable since the actual price of the stone and engraving is negligible compared to the cost. Our will designates a good portion to White Sox Charities so they will be getting an advance (hopefully a very early advance). I figure more people will see this than would ever see our tombstones.

Now we have to figure out what we want to say.

This press release (link below) claims you can buy commemorative bricks that will be a part of the new entrance to the park (opening on Opening Day 2008).

After reading the original link posted in this thread and then the press release, this just became a whole lot more enticing. I was fortunate enough to go to Game 1 of the World Series and feel that my presence there was not only for me, but for both of my grandpas who are no longer with us, and my uncle in SoCal. That brick would be an amazing way to commemorate one of the greatest experiences of my life. I have to give it some more thought, but I just may do this!

Mine is a christmas present to my parents. When I divide it up between my brothers and sisters it is only $50 a piece. Since I am taking care of both parents that with that $50 I figured it was a steal. The best I could do for $25 bucks for each parent is a gift certificate of some sort.

That's what I see to remember as well. I printed the page but all that proves is that I filled out the form; there is no indication that I ever sent it nor is there any order number.

EDIT: Upon closer inspection of the printout, it says a confirmation will be mailed out in three weeks once the credit card is charged. That's all well and good but how can I find out NOW if they ever got the order? Seems a little goofy.

Also for comparrisons sake I ordered on the day they introduced it, I believe the 7th. FYI, the brick has 4 felt pads in the corners of the "bottom" so that you can set it on a table or something without scratching it. The "bottom" is one of the skinny sides so the side of the brick with the inscription is upright on a vertical face (if that makes any sense). There is an engraved, metal nameplate on the "top" which says White Sox Charities.
