Spotted on Youtube: A 1980 TV-44 Sox promo with a few game highlights.

Recognizable: Steve Trout, Mike Squires, Chet Lemon, Claudell Washington, and Junior Moore.

It's at the 2:35 mark in this video, right after the ad for the medical book, and before the lucky couple gets together on "The Dating Game."

The promo ran during the 1980 season, but at least some of the highlights appear to be from the previous year. The Jim Rice pick-off must have been this game:

Welcome to WSI?

I need to find that Medical book on Amazon. Afterall, he did say it could save my life. Did they still encourage smoking and a high carb diet back in 1980?

Here's a trippy Ch 32 Sox promo from 1982.

Comes on at 2:16, after the Woolite Commercial from the Knoxville World's Fair.

Look for the sunsphere.

Good catch. I think Channel 32 used that same animation to open the game telecasts.

Here's another (at 1:10), with Ozzie starting a line-drive double play:

Man, that's amazing that I actually remember that channel 32 Sox commercial! I was only 8 in 1982.
Commercials sure were long, back in the day.

I remember the days when commercial breaks were only 2 and a half minutes long! (sigh...)
