Boy I miss John. A Cardinals winner just doesnt sound as good as a White Sox winner.

Kind of sucks that he says 2005 World Series was not the top moment of his career.

Seems a little pissed off to me, but it's an article, so you can't know for sure.

Yeah, sounds like Rooney is a bit bitter but hard to tell for sure from only an article to go on. Still, a Pujols homer in the middle of game 1 is more exciting than calling the final out of a White Sox World Series winner on a team you were with for 18 years??! Sorry John, I love ya but I don't get that comment.:?:

I can't disagree with what he says when he says St. Louis is a great baseball town. If you haven't been down there, you'll see more red around town than at any other stage in your life.

It is neat to see all the red everywhere.

I'm waiting for T-Dog to come here and whine about this like he did time and time again with Thomas.

A cub fan friend of mine just called, and said Next year is the Cubs turn. "we got a real manager now" LMAO

Now all they need is a new team.

Sure they do a real BAD team.

Nice to know Rooney was an Immaculate Conception Grade School Graduate even though it was in Missouri and not Chicago.

I had no problems with the article. He got to call a home run for his child hood team. It would be like if one of us broadcasted for the padres for 15 years, then in year 16 got to call a homer for the sox in a world series. It would probably mean more being our team then anything the previous 15 did.

I have no problems with Rooney. Chicago has really screwed up the broadcasting in general. Singleton and Farmer are to the ears what Swallowing Glass is to the esophogas. (still bitter about the hawks and pat foley too). Rooney was ready to come back, the sox and the score decided singleton was a better option (more realistically a cheaper option) and in the end we got what we paid for.

Good for Rooney and the Cardinals

 Sorry, but I just don't buy it. You hear it all the time but that wasn't the experience I had the time I went to a series in STL. I don't doubt that the fans are passionate about the Cardinals but my experience with the ones I talked to was that they knew very little about the other 29 teams in MLB. I was there on a 4th of July weekend and the stadium was half empty.

When was this? 1995?

No, it was before they opened the upper deck during construction.
