Well yes, I suppose 2005 ended on December 31. But the championship logo on whitesox.com has been removed. Hopefully in about 53 weeks, the 2007 championship logo will be back.

Sorry, but to my mind, it's not over until someone else wins the World Series. There's always that asteroid that Chips was talking about.

No, the 2005 World Series ended October 26, 2005. However, we've been the defending World Champs all this season, and IMO, we're World Champs until there's another one. If you want to think otherwise, that's up to you.

Has someone won the 2006 World Series and I just haven't heard about it? If not we're like a lame-duck President on the eve of election night when a new President will be picked. Bottom line is we're still the top dog. It may not be for long, but we're still the reigning World Champions.

I agree. I was joking about the website. I was just wondering when that was coming down.

I'm hoping fans will keep 2005 in it's place, and not compare every future team to 2005. It's over. It was great. But let's not turn them into the '85 Bears.

The '85 Bears were a solo act. The '05 Sox will be in the World Series next year. In 5 years, we will have many successful recent seasons to look back at.

I say good riddance. Time to start anew, forget the past. Let's get a new logo next year. :Rocker:

If the world ended today that would be bad, but, on an upswing, we would still be the World Champions. :o: Until Cards or Tigers win 4 here, we are still it. But as Denny Green says we're gonna have to "crown their asses" in a few days though.:(: :(:

I hope you're right; I still see the potential of a baseball Spurs or Patriots with this team.

When I was in college in Bloomington, Ind., one of the buttons on my car radio was the Cincinnati Reds flagship station in a year the Reds followed up a World Series championship with a non-contending season. The station ID at the top of the hour continued to announce itself as "radio home of the world champion Cincinnati Reds" on the day the Yankees ended the season against the Dodgers with the three Reggie Jackson home runs.

This is a contant danger that Sox fans have to be ever vigilant about.

The only cure is more winning.

Correct. If someone wants to mix themselves up with the minutiae of when exactly the Sox are officially not the defending champs, that's up to them. On to next year.

I agree with many of the posters here. Let's move on. We can still remember and enjoy our championship, but how bout the main focus be winning another one?

I would certainly like to see that logo come back in 2007.

They still have the World Series Championship sign in front of the stadium. I pass it every day and wonder when they'll take it down.:(:

I'd put my money on the '07 Sox to make it next year. :redneck

I'd take the Raiders of the 70s and 80s as well. They won titles and were still looked at with disdain. Outside of the Raiders, the Sox may be the most hated team in sports. That is, on a national media scale.

C'mon, more hated than the Evil Empire, or the Pistons from the Bad Boys era, or the Miami 'Canes? I would say that the media is more indifferent to the Sox than anything. Sure, we have a few lightning rods on the team, but elevating them to national villians is vanity, IMO.

What? Who even cares about the Sox outside of our little corner of the world let alone hates them?

Nope, we're just half-way home from then until the 2007 World Series and the Sox' next title:

"What? `Over'? Did you say `over'? Nothing's over until we decide it is! Was it over when the Germans bombed Pearl Harbor? Hell, no! And it ain't over now. Cause when the going gets tough...the tough get going! Who's with me?"

Is it just me, or does it feel a helluva lot longer than a year ago? I think the amount of "soaking it up" we've done over the last year has made it seem like two or three years ago. I'm ready for another one, that's for sure.

Some days I feel like the Sox winning the WS was so long ago that it never happened, and some days it feels like it JUST happened. Watching the game last night, I can't believe it's been a year already, but sitting at work right now, it feels like it's been 10 years...........:dunno:
