Read and laugh. (http://www.insidebayarea.com/sports/ci_4504547)

If Beane hires Baker, maybe Barry Zito would take a few million less to play for this thoughtful man, who brings food to his players.

If Dusty goes to the A's, the dreaded west coast trip just got much, much easier.

According to Boers and Bernstien, it's fairly common knowledge that Dusty has his guys in the media that he doesn't mind leaning on to make him look better.

I don't know if that's true or not, but that wouldn't suprise me if it's the case here.

Someone actually commented that this was a good article. :o:

All the other comments were on the money, though.

:puking: Maybe Zito will take a few mil less to play for this to play for this thoughtful man :rolling:

Baker slept through half the of season and only woke up when he needed new tea toothpick or he needed to put in a new pitcher [signals lefty].

This is my favorite

Mr Newhouse, I along with the majority of voters on the FJM site appear to want to think the best possible things about you. The majority of voters have decided you are a time traveller here to save the world from impending doom. Consequently, you clearly don't have the time to actually do your job.

Of course, if that's not the case, you should be fired for incompetence.

Baker led the Cubs into the 2003 National League Championship Series. If not for the infamous Steve Bartman, the Cubs might have beaten Florida.

:roflmao: :rolling:

Yeah, that's how it happened alright...

Can somebody explain to me what is meant by the sentence "... this thoughtful man, who brings food to his players"?

Food? Huh? ***, does Dusty stop at Subway en route to the park and pick up sandwiches for everyone? Why would Barry Zito be willing to cut a few million dollars off his salary for a manager who brings him a chicken Caesar salad?

I'm sorry, that makes no sense to me. Or is it some sort of metaphysical thing? Because that doesn't work either.

Has Dave Newhouse recently received a prescription for a medication that contains codeine?

Ham & pepperoni?!?) on them :D: .

Baker guided the San Francisco Giants into the 2002 World Series. If not for Scott Spiezio, the Giants likely would have beaten Anaheim.

How does someone so intelligent and knowledgeable about baseball toil away writing a column, when surely his enormous talents would be better spent in the General Manager-type position?

Fact: Dusty Baker blew a 3-2 lead in the 2002 World Series.

Fact: Dusty Baker blew a 3-1 lead in the 2003 NLCS, with two games at home!

The man is lousy as a manager, period. End of 'discussion.'

"The critics of this article forgot one other thing about Dusty: He was excellent at deflecting criticism by the Chicago media by having his son sit on his lap during postgame press conferences. After all, who would dare to ask anything that might upset such a cute little kid?

"So not only is Dusty Baker incompetent. He is a coward.
"TornLabrum | 10.22.06 - 4:53 am"

Just my two hundredths of a dollar on the issue.

In Phil Rogers latest column at Tribune.com he states that Baker is not on Beene's list of potential replacements.

That's suprising, considering the fact that Rogers is a card-carrying member of the DBALS (Dusty Baker Ass Licking Society).
