MLB and the A's have decided to open the 3rd deck if they make the World Series. This will create an additional 11, 500 seats at a price of $150 per seat.

I would've stood on the roof of USCF last year for $150.

Upper Reserve at the Cell was going to be $125. Based on how far away the third deck is from the field, I figure they would be the same price.

Open it now.... I think its stupid that there are seats that could be sold that aren't. I guarantee there are people that would buy 'em. This is the ALCS!

I would have paid $300 to sit in an equivalent last year. I instead had to pay a lot more - but it was worth it :)

Last night a lot of the lower levels of mount davis were full all the way across, which I've really never seen for an A's game before, and yet there were still empty seats out there and the third deck closed, paid attendance was in 35k range, so I don't know they'd sell a lot more tickets for ALCS, WS would be another matter, but then they have to get past the kittens. Last night's game was definitely not sold out.

There were still tickets available for last night's game without the third deck opened

It looks to me that about 30,000 seats were covered in tarp last night. That's sad

Maybe. Ode to Veeck says that they couldn't sell out their existing seating for last night's game

In the early 1970s, the A's weren't selling out for the postseason when they had a great team. Times may have changed, but I don't know that they will be able sell all those third-deck seats this late in the process. I don't imagine it would be that difficult for a fan of the NL opponent working in the Silicon Valley to get tickets to see his team.

The A's are still one of the best bargains anywhere. Face value on the MVP seats (first few rows next the field 1st to 3rd) for the ALCS is only $75. Now how do you think they'll charge 125-150 for the 3rd deck!??!

MLB pwns the playoffs and I am not surprised. About $1.75 million / game (or $7 million for four games) is a lot of money and this is a one time deal.

The good thing is this is all moot.
