Considering the fact that Mussina is a FA in 2007, would anyone be opposed if he was traded to the white sox? Besides his age, it would be pretty sweet if he was on our team.:bandance:

I could think of about 17mill reasons why not, I believe that is what he will make in the 2007 option year the yanks have on him.

Watching that man pitch from the stretch is painful, with that god awful bend over slow thing he does. No thanks.

This is high risk medium reward... no thank you. At this point in the career, what does he give us besides maybe 2-3 decent seasons at BEST.

last time i saw him pitch a few weeks ago he seemed like a total prick, it was on espn though so they thought it was so cute how he was showing up his teammates for not making plays

Yep. That's a good reason not to have him on the Sox. :)

He's not bad, but why trade for a guy who is 40ish and worth 17 mil a year when we have McCarthy who is young and cheap. Anyway, getting Mussina would just force B-Mac back to the pen, unless we trade two starters.

He's old, he's not cheap. Is he really worth it? I don't think so.

I say no, but not because of age or talent, but purely salary. If the Yanks didn't exercise the option and we could get him at 10mm/2 or 3 years I'd say sure. His line this year was better than any of our 5 starters. If we were to then use two starters (Garcia/Vazquez/Contreras group) to shore up SS and LF I'd be happy with that move.

Hmmm...let's see who on our current roster I would rather entrust with a starting job than Mussina.
1. Contreras
2. Buehrle
3. Garland
4. McCarthy
5. Vazquez
6. Garcia
$17M for a #7 starter? Where do I sign?

I never want the Sox to miss a postseason again.
One ****ty year and people want to drop Podsednik, Uribe, Anderson, and Garcia/Vazquez for the likes of Dave Roberts, Julio Lugo, Juan Pierre, and Mike Mussina.
Ugh.
I'd rather see KW do nothing than screw this team over for the next 2-3 years.

I would've taken him back when NY signed him...

I was going to ask what he'd cost. Soon as I saw someone say he has a $17 mill option, that was it for me. Unless we'll get someone of Johan Santana cakiber, that is too much $$ to shell out.
