Is this definite, Pat? Can't find it on MLB or ESPN.

I'm kind of surprised it didn't go to Frank, but good for you, Big Jim!

the only place i've seen it is on the scroll at the bottom of the padres/cards game. but i've seen it twice now, so ESPN TV would be my source.

ramoN backwards won it for the NL

I don't think its an award anyone ever really wants to recieve, but it is always nice to have some form of recognition..

Congratulations Jim Thome!

Frank doesn't deserve it at all. The guy who deserves it got it. As Babe Ruth said, "I had a better year."

Yeah, if you're Giambi and you stop using roids...then come back the next year and "magically" have talent.

I'm sure it means a lot to Thome. All the work he put into getting back, he deserves to get rewarded for it

Congrats Jim!

Jim Thome=The Anti-Frank Thomas.

All around nice guy who just clobbers the hell out of the ball. I do say, however, that if Frank had won, I wouldn't have been disappointed. Frank's resurgence has been nothing short of amazing.

He did more to hurt us than help us in the second half. Ozzie should have dropped him in the lineup sooner.

You do realize that an OBP of .420 is a good thing, right?

Your statement about him HURTING us more than helping us in the 2nd half is utter bull**** and wreaks of a complete lack of baseball knowledge. Was his 2nd half weaker than his first half? Yep, it was. But getting on base at a .420 clip is not hurting the team.

Ditto. Now all that's left for Frank is to get a ring on his finger as a player, instead of last year's "lifetime achievement" ring.

Thome's better year was in a hitter's paradise with great protection in the line-up.

Frank OTOH had to do it in a pitcher's paradise with no protection. I think that alone makes up for the difference in the numbers. Frank also was his best when his team needed him.

Frank had good number but he was a second half guy while Thome had a good 1st half. To me it is a wash. Either way, who cares about this award besides the player since they will get more money. The only award that matters is the championship to me.

I, too, thought it was going to go to Frank, but I can't say I'm disappointed. Thome has always been one of the really good guys. Unlike Thomas, I think Thome has a job in baseball after he stops playing. Congrats Jim!

Don't give me this "lack of baseball knowledge" crap. So our number 3, DH, HR hitter took some BB? Big deal. I watched enough games this year to know that when we needed a big hit in the second half, he didn't deliver. How many times did he pop up or strike out when we had something going down the stretch? Damn, at one point he was protected by Dye in the front and Konerko in the back.
