I was going over the schedule for next year and looked at the date of Sept 22nd in Minnesota. I then went to the Golden Gophers schedule for next year http://www.gophersports.com/SportSelect.dbml?SPSID=38609&SPID=3280&DB_OEM_ID=8400&Q_SEASON=2007 and found that they play Purdue the same day.

I realize that it may be inevitable that two teams have to play in the dome on the same day and that the game will be televised if neccesary, but why is it the White Sox for four years straight?

Wait, this is going to happen AGAIN? What the hell is going on here?

I wouldnt be surprised if the 34s REQUEST to play us on those games.
Think about it. There is no way the Yankees would be treated that way, and they need some kind of attendance draw for that game or they will be playing in front of 2500 people.

Maybe this is becoming a tradition, kind of like Boston's Monday morning game, I really don't care. Look, they put it on tv this year, if it comes down to it I'm sure they'll do it again next year. I think was pretty cool having an excuse to go to the tavern at 11 in the morning on a Saturday.

I do not really see it as a huge problem. I am sure they will televise it.

Hmmm.....Skottyj in a tavern....what a shock.

Great story, unsurprising ending:D:

I'm still amazed that they can't schedule a road series for the Twins that weekend and avoid the problem completely..

So 1 game out of 162 will not be televised? Blasphemy!!!

I really do not see the problem.

That late in the season there's always the possibility of it being some sort of "clinching" game for either the Twins or the Sox. Then the networks have to scramble to get it televised.

Besides, who the hell wants to play or watch baseball at 11:00 in the morning?

I really do not see the problem.

The problem isn't that there is a conflict but rather that it will be the Sox that are also conflicted...for the third year in a row. Why can't the Indians or Tigers go there for that weekend? Why the Sox for the third time?

And it is a problem for people who want to watch the game. No TV means no TV. It happened in 2005 and it happened in 2006.

Isn't there a stadium on the U Minn Campus?

Also, since college football schedules are printed years in advance, why can't MLB schedule the Twins on the ROAD?

Not yet; the Gophers are building a stadium.

MLB? Get it's act together?

IIRC the Fox Saturday games will start at 2:30PM in 2007.

This means the 11:00AM game will be over before the nationally televised game begins.

I bet there will be no problem showing the 11:00AM game.

I have actually been waiting for this to happen for a couple years now. I'm a Sox Fan and a Purdue Fan... perfect road trip!

IIRC the Twins will have a new stadium in a few years so this "problem" will be gone soon. In the big scheme of things worrying about one game in Minnesota every September must mean that the thread starter has a pretty easy life. Congrats.

I'm pretty sure Fox has the rights to all Saturday day baseball, no matter what time it starts.

I'm not too sure about that. From just this last season:

- April 15, 1:05, CSN
- May 27, 3:05, CSN
- June 17, 5:10, WGN
- July 29, 3:35, CSN
- August 5, 3:05, WGN
- September 16, 3:05, WGN

Most of those are late afternoon games but what about the April 15 game?

It usually didn't start until after the break but now they have more games with the new contract.
