NEW YORK -- There's seemingly a strong chance that Orlando Hernandez won't be able to start Wednesday's Game 1 of the Division Series. The Mets veteran right-hander was forced to leave Tuesday afternoon's workout at Shea Stadium because of discomfort in his right calf.

:o: Wow, the Mets are in trouble. They gotta get to the LCS, at least. I want to get tickets. Glavine should've been anointed the Game 1 starter anyway.

Glavine will still pitch Game 2. John Maine will get the Game 1 start if El Duque cannot make his start. :o:

The Mets better have their offense in high gear. If they can get to the bullpen with the game close they have a shot. The Mets first good team since 2000 and they are dropping like flies. :(:

The only reason I thought they'd win this series is because El Duque could possibly go twice. Now I don't think they have a shot at all. Dodgers in 4.

I knew that old pitching staff could do them in for the count since the first half when they were red-hot. They need to win big tomorrow, or the karma will start fading fast. :(:

The Mets have the ex-Sox Factor on their side. They will win it all. It

The 2006 ex-Sox factor is remarkable:

Oakland - Thomas
Detroit - Ordoņez
NY Mets - Valentin & Duque
San Diego - Blum

The Mets are still doomed tho. The Fates have determined it.

I'll throw in a George Teague Championship play (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AERD9x3yMcI) as an exclaimation point.

The best team in MLB is out of the playoffs. I fear none of the remaining teams and certainly none in the NL.

The Mets also have Chad Bradford, Roberto Hernandez and Julio Franco.
They are top-heavy with ex-Sox. That is why winning it all is their
destiny.

What "El Duque" needs is some strong Cuban expresso coffee and he'll be good as new. He'll be good as new by tomorrow. You'll see.

Unbelievable. Did a black cat get into the home team's training room at Shea Stadium? You gotta feel for Mets fans.

Has anyone even looked at the facts on the mets? I can't believe you're all writing them off because of this:

Stats:

Mets are 22-21 in games started by Pedro or Duque this season.

Mets are 75-44 in games started by anyone else.

Lets not write them off before we do our research...

That is just for this round, he can be added after this series if the Mets choose to. So hopefully he is back if the Mets advance.

It's a 5 game series, though. In other words, you might as well throw out all stats from the season, because it's only 5 games. The Mets rotation isn't very good, and El Duque is the man in the postseason. I thought they would win the 1st, 2nd, and 5th games...now, I'm not even sure if they can win more than 1.

They won't. It's over. Minaya can spend the winter dealing for three new starters.
