I'm rooting for Frank as well. We know his history at the Metrodome, so I'm hoping that now that he's in a new uniform that he will perform better. Frank puts alot of pressure on himself during these big games.

Also pulling for Magglio to do well against the Yankees.

I know, I'm a sentimental idiot. Just grateful to both of these guys for all the great memories they have given me over the years, that's all.

I don't like either team, but the fact that there's a team in the playoffs starting Rondell White, Nick Punto, Jason Bartlett, and Phil Nevin, AND we couldn't beat them out, makes me physically sick. The sooner they gone, the better IMO. I don't care who does it either. They just happen to be playing Oakland first, so hey, hope it's Oakland.

However, i worry he'll take some major shots at the Sox should he land himself another ring. But I guess we will deal with that if/when it happens. For the moment I am glad MN lost. The A's are terrible with RISP. The A's better figure out how to get some offense from someone other than Frank Thomas or they won't be going deep in the playoffs this year. Frank is an amazing hitter but he can't hit 2 HRs every single game for them. That being said, stealing game 1 from the Twins is huge for them. Still could be anyone's series. If the A's take Game 2, I think it's over.

First of all, I never said I was going out on a limb. Second of all, it is not without precedent that teams have come back from a 2-0 deficit since ALDS play began in '95. Here are the comebacks:

1995 Mariners up 2-0 vs. New York Yankees, RESULT- M's win series 3-2
1999 Indians up 2-0 vs. Boston Red Sox, RESULT- Red Sox win series 3-2
2001 A's up 2-0 vs New York Yankees, RESULT- Yanks win series 3-2
2003 A's up 2-0 vs. Boston Red Sox, RESULT- Red Sox win series 3-2

What you say is true about putting up 3 against Santana + Twins bullpen. I should have been more specific in my post. It was more of a general criticism of the A's offense for the entire year. Their struggles with RISP has been a trend for them all season long except for Big Frank. The A's pitching staff, bullpen, and defense are all very solid, however, I don't think they're spectacular enough to carry them to the World Series on their own. The starters would have to get on a 2005 Sox like roll. The A's need some clutch hitting with RISP from someone not named Frank Thomas to start up or their October run is going to be a short one.

The overall team is batting .243 with RISP. Here are a handful of the A's that are really struggling with RISP batting avg:

Nick Swisher .190
Marco Scutaro .224
Eric Chavez .202
Mark Ellis .207
Dan Johnson .200

To give you an idea of how bad some of these are, Brian Anderson hit .195 w/RISP.

Damn, I hate it when Twins fans are happy.

You should hear when they are happy in the **** dome. You will not be able to hear for a good 2 hrs after.

I see that a certain WSI Twins fan is on a WHITE SOX board during a Twins playoff game.

Twins will lose, A's have Thomas, Jimenez and Loiaza...

Twins only have Guerrier. It's the ex-Sox factor.

I see Boof didnt last long either. Maybe he should consider a name change. Boof...I really pray that is not his real name because if it is his parents are Goofs.

It's John. He legally changed his name (relatively recently, as an adult) to Boof...

And Bonser lasted longer than Loiaza. When you have the pen the Twins have, and you HAVE to win the game, you go to them as soon as the game is tied. They probably would have gone to the pen anyway...they're five deep out there.

Considering this board is better than any the Twins have to offer, can you really blame him?
