Don't be. It's worth it. To me the DVD is priceless, because we don't know how long it will be before we get there again. I love all the optimism on this board which is why I visit often, but winning a WS is not something our beloved team does every year. We had a good team on paper this year and yet ...

You might consider purchasing a second copy of the DVD for holiday gifts for the upcoming holidays - you know in December. Gotta be politically correct around here.

I bought this from the site a couple months ago when it was on sale for 20% off, but the list price was thirty something then. After tax I think it ended up being just around thirty. Great deal then, and I'm considering picking up another one just to have one to watch and one to have unopened.

Deepdiscountdvd offers free shipping anyway.

I found the deal he was talking about through some searching.

A&E has it for 10 cents more than DDD but with a free pin set (They say valued at $30, they are selling it in their store 50% off at $15). The code EPRDAY will give you free shipping. Since DDD seems to be out of stock, any new orders I would put with A&E because it says it is in stock and you get a set of pins for a dime.

A&E White Sox CE: http://store.aetv.com/html/product/index.jhtml?id=74722&skuId=74722

Also, A&E has a bunch of other baseball collector sets and DVDs on sale including one on the Black Sox only available from them:
http://store.aetv.com/html/subject/index.jhtml?id=spo1001&=

DDD has some more too, but not as many related products. Some of the sets are cheaper at DDD, some cheaper at A&E:

I've already got all of the games on disc (except the ALDS Game 1), but I thought this would be a nice souvenir in case something ever happens to the other ones. My total off the A&E site, with taxes, was $19.06. That's an amazing deal.

For those of you who ordered this evening, just know that an order was placed in my house tonight and the pins are no longer available! Around 8p, we got an e-mail that said, "Unfortunately - CHICAGO WHITE SOX CHAMPIONSHIP 2005 CHAMPIONSHIP PIN SET, is no longer available for purchase. This may be due to a variety of reasons, most likely rights, clearance issues, or manufacturer availability. The item has been removed from your order."

But at the same time, I added the item to my cart again a few minutes ago, just to see if it said "out of stock" by the pins, and it says they're available 10.17.06, so who knows if people will be getting them or not?! :dunno:

The A&E DVD set is the best. Watching game 1 of the world series starring the Sox is unreal. It's just crazy to watch it in retrospect. Makes it a WHOLE lot more real now than when it was going on. It was like a dream back then.

I called them at deep DVD hoping I could tell them I would order from A&E and get the pin set, thinking maybe they could not give me the old $18 price just to make the sale........NO LUCK

Received the Mets 1986 Box Set today (free shipping option - ordered Oct 3 for $27 total with S / H & Taxes). The five pins were pretty cool as well considering they were free and all.

I went straight to Game 6 of course. It was awesome hearing real baseball announcers (Vin Scully & Joe Garagiola) for the first time since Rooney called Game 4. :(:

I love the faux "widescreen" (it's actually a 4:3 interlaced frame). Not really, actually, since I have a widescreen monitor and I can't figure out how to stretch the 4:3 box out.

Edit: fixed this with VLC Player's crop control.

Anyway, anyone know if this is still available cheap anywhere? I'd like to get one for my uncle..

This 4:3 format really sticks in my craw. I have an upconvert DVD player and if I try to wash the DVD at 720i, 720p or 1080i, it stretches it out. The only real way to watch it is at 480i or 480p on 4:3 expanded. It looks good and all but it could be a lot better. TVs are going the way of 16:9 format so why they would put these out at 4:3 is a little shortsighted. I mean, the games were originally broadcast in HD so why they didn't use that for the DVD is a mystery to me.

Gavin
10-18-2006, 01:00 PM
Studios really need to start doing that trick where you cram a widescreen picture into a 4:3 frame. You just stretch out on your widescreen TV and it looks a heckuva lot better than zooming.
