It would have been cool if the Stros would have won to force the possible playoff game but, Congrats to the Cards anyway.

NL Central Champs= Tallest Midget

My God, the Cards tried and tried to give that division away all year they just happened to be the team that sucked the least at the end of the year.

If any NL team besides the Mets win the World Series, it would be a travesty or miracle. Take your pick.

St. Louis won a six-team division with 83 wins, meanwhile the Sox can't make the playoffs with 90 wins. What a joke.

Just to take this a little further:

With their 90 victories, the Sox had a better record than 15 of the 16 teams in the National League.

The Cardinals are my second favorite team, but I don't know if I even want them to win in the NLDS they were so bad this year. I'll be surprised if they win a game.

That's baseball. Coming into the year, I think we all realized the balance of power was in the American League. I figured it would take 95 wins to qualify for the postseason, and that proved to be the case. Unfortunately, we came up five wins shy of the necessary total. I think Anaheim, much like the Sox, is a better club than three of the NL postseason qualifiers, and the Angels are also sitting on the sidelines. Those are the breaks.

It's fitting the Cardinals backed into the playoffs. It's typical of their season and typical of that division. The "Comedy Central" is now the NL Central.

Don't sleep on the Padres. They look a lot like us last year, with a strong starting rotation, excellent bullpen, solid defense, and a scrappy offense. I picked them to win the whole thing, but what do I know?

Anybody out there know how many top eight teams have been excluded from post-season play out of the NL since interleague play started?
