1. Detroit - Horrible since '87. Central Division. Go Tigers!

2. Oakland - I can't stand the Billy Beane phenomenon, but it would be pretty cool to see the Hurt win another ring while actually playing.

3. Twinkies - Hate the team, but they are in the central, so it would be good representation.

4. Cardinals - Favorite NL team, so if one has to win, hope its the Cards. Plus it would be a nightmare for cub fans

5. Astros - awesome comeback. Also, I felt a little bad for them last year. Had they been playing anyone but the Sox, I would have rooted for them.

6. Phillies - I've got no issues with Philly.

6a. Padres - Same as Philly.

7. Dodgers - Never been a big LA fan

8. Mets - a New York team winning the championship in any sport is never a good thing!

9. Yankees - no explanation necessary.

The A's are going to win it all this year. Anything that brings MORE attention to the career Big Frank had while he was in Chicago, and just how amazing he was as a hitter is a good thing.

Gotta hang with Detroit until the WS. If they play the Astros or Cardinals I'll pull for the NL team. I don't have major issues with the Tigers except for the fact they ended up ahead of us.

I'm also not going to let a few Twinkie trolls stop me from doing what's right and pulling for Minnesota over the Yankees (if it comes down to that). If Minnesota ends up playing Oakland, I'm pulling for the A's. Sorry, Timberwolf.

I don't have major issues with the NL contenders except maybe the Mets as I've learned to dislike all things New York (at least in terms of sports teams), but I am partial to teams from the heartland.

My dream is Cardinals-Tigers. A repeat of 1968. My worst nightmare is NY-NY. Don't want to see that "Subway Series" crap ever again. Unless, of course, it's here in Chicago and the Sox kick Cubbie ass!

As long as its not the Twins or Tigers, I could care less. I'd like to see Frank actually play in a World Series though, not just being a cheerleader on the bench.

Due to sour grapes over this season, I want all American League teams to fail. If the Sox can't win, I want them to suffer as well. That said, here's who I'd like to see win the NL pennant. Unfortunately, the NL team will probably take such a beating in the World Series that they will have to stop it after three games.

Of the teams still in contention...

1) Dodgers, mostly because I lived in LA for 8 years, and followed them fairly closely while I was there.

2) A's, because I'd like to see Frank Thomas win a ring while actually playing.

3) Anybody else in the National League.

4) Yankees, but only because Magglio Ordonez is a...

5) Tigers, but only because the only other option is...

6) Twins, due to some semi-friendly rivalries on another message board.

Haven't really thought about it too much. Guess I'd have to go with the A's. Can't root for an NL team. Don't know why, just can't. Despise MN, not big on Yanks either. Leaves DET and OAK. I guess I'd rather see Frank with 2 rings than Maggs with 1.

1. Astros- Just because Craig Biggio deserves a championship. Glad it didn't come last year, though.
2. Padres- Hoffman deserves another shot at a ring.
3. Phillies- It took some serious guts for Ryan Howard and Chase Utley to lead the Phillies back after the deadline dismantling.
4. Cardinals- Edmonds/Rolen/Pujols alll deserve rings, but the rest of the team doesn't.
5. A's- The FOBB's will have nothing to brag about, because according to them, the playoffs are a crapshoot.
6. Mets- I like a lot of the guys on the team (Glavine, Reyes, Wright, Delgado, etc.), but they'd just show that a high payroll will win a World Series.
7. Tigers- Because I don't have a deep-seeded hate of them. Yet.
8. Yankees- They aren't going ahead of the Twins.
9. Twins- Those ****ers don't deserve to win a playoff game.

TommyJohn

1. Mets- based on my very own Ex-Sox Factor, which states that any team
with three or more ex-Sox on the roster during the season will pull off a
tremendous comeback or upset to win the World Series. (Unless the Ex-
Cub Factor comes into play.) The Mets have the most ex-Sox on the roster
(five) so my money is on them.

The other teams who benefitted from the ex-Sox Factor (AKA the "Hitless
Wonder Factor")

1968 Detroit Tigers
1969 New York Mets
1978 New York Yankees
1985 Kansas City Royals
1997 Florida Marlins
2004 Boston Red Sox

Three teams lost despite the ex-Sox factor:

1981 New York Yankees
1988 Oakland A's
1990 Oakland A's

but they did so because they had the requisite amount of ex-Cubs (three.)
No ex ex ex ex ex ex ex factor could overcome that!

I'm normally an AL guy, but this year it's Let's Go, Mets.

I have no rank other than I'll be pulling for Detroit. They are a good baseball town, and their fans have been waiting a long time.

If the Tigers don't make it, I'll just root for good baseball and a good World Series. 2001 and 2002 were very entertaining World Series. 2005 was great from our perspective, but I doubt the masses will talk about it much because it was a sweep, and Blum hit the homer at 1am.

It may not be logical, but it *is* emotional, and I feel the same way, especially this year. Very rarely does logic come into play when I am cheering for (or against) a sports team. Is it logical for me to hold a grudge against the Yankees for what I felt they did to me when I was a wee lad in the 60's? Nope. But I do. I sure as hell do.

I never said the Sox would win the series again but it was very reasonable to think they'd at least have a chance to defend it on the field in the post season.
