That's surprising.

Well, at least we don't have the additional pain of being eliminated by the Twins from the race. The White Sox decided to quit two weeks early.

True that. Thankfully I will not have to watch them celebrate on the field this weekend while I am out there.

They are still mad about the Vikings losing to the Bears and are battling hangovers....

Maybe a few weeks more than 2.

OMG! The way you rhymed SOX with SUX... hilarious!
Hey dumbass, why don't you quit trolling here, quit looking at internet porn in your mom's basement, put down your Jenna Jameson "life-like" doll, wash the KY off your hands (and probably lips) and do something with your life.

Quite nice that his team just clinched a playoff berth and the best thing he can think to do is come troll a Sox board. They don't breed 'em too smart up there in minny do they?

I remember winning a World Series recently. And unless Jim Kaat, Bert Blyleven, Geoff Zahn, Jack Morris, and Dean Chance are being reincarnated, keep dreamin', ****ball!

The only thing the Twins got yesterday was a week long stay of execution.

But hey, at least the troll didn't use the cool weather as an excuse, even though it is probably colder in the ChumptyDome than it is outside.

And yet, I saw that advance ticket sales for the Sox v. Twins series this weekend is something like 143,000. I can't believe that their team is fighting for the division title and they can't draw 20,000 to the game. Weird.

That *is* wierd. If I hadn't have been far too busy working on my girlfriends house I would have definitely been there (I'm a Twins fan). I told a co-worker that I knew was going to watch the scoreboard because they could clinch a playoff berth last night. Honestly I was kind of looking forward to that final series against the Sox being important.

I apologize for the Twins troll, he doesn't represent all the fans, and is a source of embarrassment.

If the White Sox did that on a potential clinch night, the Tribune, Sun-Times, all local broadcast news, and ESPN would have a total field day over it.

I guess it's not news if they're not trashing the White Sox.

Actually, you might have to watch them celebrate. They are stil gunning for the division and could clinch it this weekend.

Thats exactly right. The Twins clubhouse celebration last nite was was low-key, because they are gunning for the division. Some of the players said this weekend would be the real celebration, as it will determine if they win the division or be a wild-card team. Glad I'm Not Going.

Well, as I Twins fan I'll tell you why there was only 18,000. First off, no one knew when the Twins would clinch. Obviously, no one knew that ahead of time. Monday games are always the lowest in terms of attendance. Secondly, the White Sox series is a complete sell-out. That's 140,000 Twins fans in 3 days. An average baseball fan can't afford to go to multiple games a week.

If the White Sox did that on a potential clinch night, the Tribune, Sun-Times, all local broadcast news, and ESPN would have a total field day over it.

Well, the media here did have a field day over it. ESPN would have made a big deal of it if the New Orleans game hadn't happened.

I saw the "crowd" too. I'm willing to bet the three games this weekend will be sold out against the Sox. Someone on the board said Twins fans are "Soxbessed."

They only draw above 25,000 when they face us.

Really, making the postseason should be worthy enough of a huge celebration. Clinching the division is a meaningless title at this point. Sure, it decides whether they face NYY or Oak, but is that what you want to celebrate? Both teams are worthy contenders.

Hell, Baseball Tonight had a rant against Sox fans because of a crappy crowd for some freezing cold April or May game against KC a year or two ago. I remember Kruk being an ass during the highlights, saying 'What a shock, that HR ball hit an empty seat'. They even asked Garland about it the next day on an ESPN interview, and he really defended Sox fans, that's when I really started respecting him

Yeah, dip****. I do remember. That was one year ago. When we won the world series. I don't have to think back 15 years like you do. And after this year it will be 16.

My thoughts exactly. Seriously, who cares how many people are at the games? I actually didn't mind having the option of being able to decide day of the game if I wanted to go or not. I'm certainly not advocating those days be back, but there are good points to everything.

It was last year and as you said, it was a game in early May on a cold night against KC.

One of the local news stations (I believe it was WGN) also fabricated the attendance issue at the end of 2005. They took a sold out game against the Twins and shot their news story about an hour before the game - panning around the ballpark showing all the empty seats and saying "what's wrong with Sox fans?". They also included interviews with visiting Twins fans that were "surprised" at the light turnout for a playoff bound team. This was shown on TV on the 9:00 news - after the game was played to a sellout crowd.

Fair enough. I agree with those reasons. Interesting that the Minnesota media made an issue out of it. This is a sore subject with alot of us Sox fans because we've put up with the attendance issue being thrown in our face for years. Unlike other teams, we're in a unique situation where even the hometown media tends to be anti-Sox because many of those clowns are Cub fans.

This attendance mark is both pathetic and hilarious. Their best excuse is that they were too stupid to know that they had a chance to clinch a playoff spot. :D:

I know that if the Sox were in the same position at a monday home game the place would be packed (like it has been for most of the season).

that's really sad, i'm not a fan of the team but it's a sad day in baseball when a team clinches a playoff position and has less than 30,000 fans, it makes no sense the no offense to the cubs but they were like in last place and they always got more than 30,000. Also a possible answer to the Twins attendance slump is because the staduim it's self is not that great.
