If the last series is played for Sox Pride, does Morneau deserve to get one in the back for what he said about Sox?

What? No. He might be a jackass for saying it, but what the hell does plunking solve? Why is everyone's meathead like response to everything in baseball is that we should hit someone? Why can't we just beat a team on the field? The only time I thought the Sox should hit someone was when AJ got hit twice by Padilla and Vazquez didn't do anything. Tracey was the goat, and Ozzie was being an ass when he should've called out Vazquez instead of going off on a rookie. But I don't understand this obession with throwing at someone. Like when Roger Clemens finally bat against the Mets in Shea. People were mad about what he did to Piazza. I understand that, it was cowardly, but anyone who saw that game knows the Mets hit Tino Martinez on the very next half inning. But it went on and on about how the Mets still had to hit Clemens. What would the Sox hitting Morneau prove? That we are tougher than them? Will we have "pride" (just like a poster here said the Indians would have no pride if they didn't hit AJ for his walk off bat flip, which also was silly)?

Damn straight he should be. Nothing that's going to put him out of action or anything, but a fastball in the ribs should be giftwrapper for him

Though I'd rather they just hit Hunter. And if he missed some time, well, maybe then he'd regret what he did to Burke.

No. Why wait till game 160 to finally show some balls? Real crybaby move on our part if he gets plunked. "Waah, we couldn't hold you guys off even though we were 10 games ahead of you in July, but one of you was mean to us so we're gonna plunk you now since we couldn't beat you on the field :whiner::whiner::whiner::whiner::whiner::whiner:". Bravo! That's the way I see it. I don't think the Twins would mind. They like it when the Sox put them on base intentionally. They'd just steal 2nd and 3rd.

In all seriousness, I agree. Or hey, maybe retain some dignity and beat them and finish up on a good note. Ever think of that? It's crazy, I know, perhaps irrational, but I think outside the box.

Done for Sox pride? This team has showed us the past three weeks that they don't have any pride. They are willing to roll over when they are getting kicked, and not even put up a fight.
In fact, I am willing to bet that the trash talking, obsessed Twins will intentionally hit a batter or two of the Sox, and nothing will happen. This team doesn't have a collective spine.

What he said.

Hitting someone because we couldn't beat them after he made the remarks does nothing for me.

Maybe I would think differently had we plunked people all season when the situation warranted, like vs. the Angels or Rangers. If we didn't retaliate then when they practically annoucned they were going after AJ, to do anything now would make us look like a bunch of sore loser puds.

I think we should hit each and every one of the Twins players at least once! Just start on Friday and don't stop 'till Sunday. *** - we don't have anything left to play for this year - send 'em all to the playoffs a little sore.

Believe me if the situation was reversed THEY would be hitting one or many of our players. The Twins do not respect the Sox or our championship.

I DETEST the Minnesota Twins. And if Moroneau gets the MVP I'm gonna puke.

Okay, I feel better now.

Did anyone here even READ what he said? He did ZERO trash talking....if anything, he said things that mean he RESPECTS our team's potential...''I just want to win and I'll do anything to not let Chicago get into the playoffs. That's all that matters. Obviously we're still trying to chase Detroit, but you'd almost rather see anybody go in other than Chicago.''

How the hell is that "bashing"?

We should take our defeat as men and don't go as low as head hunting the team that kicked our a$# all year.

You want to get back at Morneu and them, Let's take the season series from them next season and win the Division by 20 games.

Now what would that solve? We're about to fall out of contention and Morneau made good on his word. He'll be remembered for some time in Minnesota for this. Plunking him would just show the world how upset we are.

Sox Pride? Please...don't use the "P" word around these parts. That word has nothing to do with this team. They lost that sometime in July. If they hit us, screw hitting them back, they better charge the mound and at least PRETEND they give a flying rats ass about this team.

Probaby because that's the way opponents solved their problems all year against us. Face it, plunkings for stupid **** like this happen all the time...most of the time they go unnoticed, though...unless Ozzie is involved. He should be plunked, and Torii should too...while they're at it, plunk Nick Punto for all the lucky ass hits.

If we can't go to the playoffs, we might as well bruise up the teams that can.

Plunk Morneau for wanting to knock off the defending world champs? He should want to do exactly that, why would that offend anyone? BTW, I just got banned for five days for jokingly suggesting that a player get beaned. How is this different?

Although there is a childish part of me that would not mind seeing the Sox pitchers go after Morneau, my more practical, adult self thinks the best thing the Sox could do is sweep the Twins next weekend. It would be a nice way to end a frustrating season, at least.

As to Morneau's comments: for me it isn't that he simply wants to beat the Sox; I don't blame any player on any other team for that. But he specifically singled out the Sox as the team he wants to see not make the playoffs. He apparently has some sort of animosity specially reserved just for the Sox. I'm just tired of this "chip on our shoulder" thing the Twins seem to have for the Sox. It seems to me to be unwarranted. If anything, the Sox should resent the Twins for beating them so frequently over the past five years or so.

guillen4life13

I'd honestly much rather the Sox just WIN the got dang series. Sweep would be nice. I want the Twins going into the playoffs in a bit of a tailspin, so that whoever they play can take them out. I do NOT want the Twins winning the WS. I want the A's to take it this year (if the winner comes from the AL). I think the Twins , with the way they're playing, will win it all. They're playing like the Sox played this time last year.

I'm just a bit curious on something. I'm wondering if your hatred for the Twins is only because of their success the last 5 years in the division, or if there is more. So why do you really hate the Twins? Hunter running AJ down at the plate a few years back? The way they play? Do you find the fans cocky? I'm honestly curious this is in no way an attack.

I think the reason the Twins don't like the Whitesox is, one, they won it all last year, and two, they spend more money on players (kind of a cop out answer though because that's just about the whole league)

So why do you hate the Twins, honestly? And while you're at it, why do you hate Morneau so much? Why not Mauer, who was the "American Idol" according to Sports Illustrated. If they put a sox player with that caption on the front I for one know I'd be sick to my stomach, no matter who it is.

It was Jamie Burke that Hunter wrongfully ran over. Don't get me started on that being hardnose baseball, Burke was 5 feet away from the plate at the time. Hunter looks like a punk because he doen't know the proper way to wear a baseball hat. If he was on the sox, he would be well liked.

Sorry my fault on the AJ=Jamie Burke mistake.

But yeah, that wasn't exactly the most needed run down, but I suppose it got the job done...?

However, i'm in the boat that says don't sign Hunter to a contract extension (although I think they will solely because hes having a great last two months of the season) because I don't think he's worth over 10 million a year (what he wants) when we could save that money and spend it on locking up Morneau or Mauer for sure.
